Sounds like he is running out of options, with only the Lakers and Heat left to bid for his services. I don't see him working out well with Kobe but who knows.http://www2.dailynews.com/sports/ci_2996700
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

sprewell has worn out his welcome all over the nba--he has to come to grips that Finley set the market for a back up and there isnt that much money left--guys like payton and sprewell still think that they are going to magically be offered 5-6-7mm$ and while they could be worth the cash, they simply wont get it. I think Payton has more value than Sprewell--if I was the heat, I try to get both to sign for half of the mid level for 2 years. for a club with championship aspirations, they haev a great deal fo youth--they could use sprewell and payton, even at 20 minutes per of the bench

Man, if the Heat really somehow got that to happen, that would be such a great team

17 year old Bynum's role models on his team would include Kobe, Kwame, and Spree. This should be interesting!

Well... throughout his career, Sprewell's production/stats/skills have been relatively similar to those of Ron Harper. Harper's became a huge part of the Bulls success because of his ability to play effectively in the triangle offense. Sprewell has similar size and game. Other than the fact that Sprewell is somewhat nuts, it sounds like a good fit to me.

if lakers deal, the addition of spree should be a non-factor to bynum when considering the mentoring of the zen master and abdul-jabbar

The Lakers said that Bynum will play sparingly, if at all his first year. He's 17 years old and still growing. I can see him spot duty, but his first year will be about physical mental and fundamental growth, that's why they hired Kareem. He's not going to be getting 20 minutes a night, he's not even going to be in any regular rotation. He could surprise to the upside, but his career starts in 2006-2007

Regardless of how much a player actually plays, his teammates will be an influence on him. Bynum's going to be blessed with teammate role models like Kwame, Kobe, and maybe Spree. For his sake, hopefully Phil will be helpful to him.

Sprewell is a headcase. He may totally implode or he might come out and give you 18 points a night and get into it. Who knows? And I don't think Phil Jackson can shrink this headcase. He is his own man. Gundy handled him well by, I think, leaving him alone.

Wherever he goes I guess we all know the game of the year to watch - his first game in Minneapolis. Cover the kids' ears!

I can see him going to the lakers but then again I can also see him choking Phil Jackson too.

I think they have enough slashers on the team. Im just tying to figure what his role would be? Spree is not a pure shooter. He is not a great passer. What does he bring to the triangle? And If I am the Lakes, do I want to keep a roster spot for a younger player? Or an impredictable Vet?

Spree the team mate and spree the player has really never been the problem.

ON miami, they have that Damon Wade fella. I don't see them as having enough minutes. In My opinion, Fin going to Miami made no sense other than keeping him form another team.

Ron Harper was a TRUE team player, though....He did ANYTHING he had to do for the team and was a class act off the court. Spree, for all his hard work and passion on the court, off the court he is anything BUT Ron Harper.

I disagree on the Spree take. I am only basing this on his time here in NY. He was a great teammate. He played out of position a was very supportive of his teammates. Maybe LJ had something to do with it, I don't know. Spree did his job and we all loved him for it.

NYK, like I said....ON the court he was a good player and more often than not, did what he had to do to win....OFF the court was the problem...

We all agree Spree can play, and we THINK he is a good team mate. Question is can the big ego that made him a great player allow him to be a bit role player? Be prepared to stay sharp on the bench?

his big ego refused a 3 year 21 million dollar contract!

He a Pop in San Antonio had a good relationship (he was assistant coach in Frisco) and would have thought he landed there!

Maybe folks put up with his crap because of his talent, but not its not there, why bother? The market for him has spoken.

Detroit have any money left?
