at the hurricane relief concert/telethon, this is what he said:

I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family it says they're looting. If you see a white family it says they're looking for food. And you know it's been five days because most of the people are black adn even for me to complain about...I would be a hypocrite because I tried to turn away from the TV because it's too hard to watch. I've even been shopping before giving a donation so now I'm calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount I can give and just to imagine if I was down there and those are my people down there, so anybody out there that wants to do anything so we can help with the setup the way America is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well off as slow as possible I mean this is, Red Crross is doing everything they can. We already realize alot of the people that coudl help are at war right now fighting another way and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us.

<Mike Myers speaks some more>

George Bush doesn't care about black people

http://media.putfile.com/Kanye79 (only the last bit of the dialogue)

then they cut to chris tucker.

Was just reading that on Realgm, and saw the video.

That **** is hilarious. Mike Meyers looks like he wants to jump outta his skin.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

My man Kanye, speaking that truth to power. I'm glad he said it. Someone needed to, after all this bullshyt they are saying on the news.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

How come Bush only sees New Orleans from an airplane but shows up in Alabama for photo ops? He knew the crowds in New Orleans would have had his butt, and he couldn't control the soundbites and negativity on the news. New Orleans is the main story here.

George W. the "Hurricane Cowboy" sure looks inept once again. Don't know if he is racist, or just elitist, but he sure failed a lot of people when they needed him. This article, yeah I know it's left wing, but it hits a lot right... http://www.bushwatch.net/miscellanea.htm

"Bush doesn't care about black people."

I don't care how great of rapper/producer Kanye is, that is just a ridiculous accusation. It's not even worth commenting on but I hope people don't let this dumb remark slide. Entertainers need to leave politics alone--or else do your homework and don't be a College Dropout.

Without daddy what would Bush's college career be? If he even would have had one. Dude was too busy sniffing the entire Peru up in his nose!

GW was brought up in a interesting household. At one point daddy was heading CIA. The same CIA that just a few years earlier harrassing and intimidating civil rights leaders...King being one of them. Don't get me started on the FBI at that time. These guys were chummy-chummy with dad. These are the kinds of things that were going on back in the days when little impressionable Georgy was around those Einsteins who believed that 'Martin Luther King Jr is a threat to national security'. One can only imagine what the conversations were like at the old Bush family dinner table.

Some things never change with people.

Do you mindlessly follow everything your parents said and did around the dinner table?

Nope. But look at the situation down in New Orleans with all of these minorities. My grandmother and aunt is at the Convention Center as we speak. My grandma is 80 and has not had food or water since Sunday. They were rescued and told that they were being taken to Texas (good old Georgey's Texas) but instead they were dropped off at the Convention Center right alongside corpes and more deteriorating surroundings. This situation is being handled with just the same amount of intelligence as the current war. Where's the plan now that this has happen close to a week ago now?

Look at the people of New Orleans. Look at the people who are suffering. Minorities.....mainly black minorities. Where is the all of out efforts to rescue the people? See Briggs thread on how things are being handled for that discussion.

Here is somethine else....the most minorities put to death in U.S. history was during old GW's tenure down in good old Texas. No disrespect to the GOOD people down in Texas. I don't think Georgy represents them well.

As far as his concern for the actual 'black community'.......nonexistent.

He was also the first president in years and years and years that would not meet up with the major African American organizations. Presidents that came before old Georgy sat down with these people to hear the concerns of the black community. Some things are just NOT that important to him. Turn to CNN as we speak and look at the effort that is being put forth for people like my family down there.

Bush has put more blacks in significant positions of power in his cabinet than any other President in HISTORY. I know 3 off the top of my head, Powell, Rice and paige. The general leading the effort down there is black.

Why should he meet with a group that ran an ad that stated that Bush was responsible for the dragging death of a black man in texas?

I cannot believe this has come to this. I am sad for my country today. We have no chance.

Putting a person in a position (where the person could still be a pawn) and actually giving a damn about a community is two totally different things. Do you know about George Wallace....he was the biggest advocate of segregation in the 50's and 60's. I'm sure you know if him. Well, it has been documented that a very close life long friend of his is black. Yet, he and Bull Connor got together and terrorized the people of Alabama. It's was criminal and inhuman.

Point is, I don't care how many symbolic people a president puts in power....because those people share his agenda anyway. This means absolutely NOTHING about that presidents dealings with the actually community of that group of people.

And also, the outrage wasn't that GW was responsible for the dragging. That was never said. It was how it was handled by law enforement after the fact. And lastly, you think the NAACP is the ONLY black organization with credibility. Think again. They were the ones who took on that Texas situation. How can one organization represent every minority organization that has an agenda and this nation and have the right to be heard? That's what you're saying when you said 'why should he meet up with a group that ran an add' blah blah blah. What about the many legitimate organizations that had nothing to do with the add you're mentioning?

The only problem about saying Bush doesn't care about black people is that it implies that he cares about ANYONE at all. He has only one concern and that is to serve the infinitesimal sliver of the population that controls him.

I'd say it is more accurate to state that he care even less about black people than he does about the folks that vote for him, and that ain't much at all.

Homeland Sercurity President my ass! The worst security breach in our nation's history happens under his watch and we are totally unprepared. Supposedly we are bolstering our emergency response capabilities since then. Then Katrina happens. We have at least 36 hours warning. We are totally unprepared and unable to respond, and in some cases unwilling.

Indifference or incompetence? Take your pick. Just don't blame Bush, nothing is his fault. He is only the president, what can he do?

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

kayne has a big mouth. I hate to make this a racial issue and I am black. I have a few questions to ask for all these uninformed entertainers.

California and their local govt officials, have put into place measures that prepares them for earth quakes, people stock up on food and water for emergencies, they raised taxes to pay for new earthquake proof highways and buildings and bridges, they are not waiting for the federal govt to do this, they are doing this on their own..

NO and it's city officials new about the problem with the levies, why didn't they raise the taxes, sell bonds, so that they could fund the levy project themselves? why did the mayor of NO deny a request to provide boats for the police department? Why didn't the people of NO who live under water basically prepare for such an event by storing water and non-perishable foods? for those that could afford it why not have a inflatable raft in your garage, and for those that couldn't why not pressure the local officials to supply one for those who couldn't afford it? I mean everyone is saying they knew this was going to happen, so why not prepare yourself? why wait for the fed govt? is it the job of the feds and the taxpayers nation wide to pay for the levies in NO?

I am not trying to be incensitive here because I have donated and as soon as I can I am going to take my friend and I, load up the pickup truck and bring food and supplies down there, this is something we all need to kick in and do. But to blame bush for this is insane, to say he and the govt are slacking because most of the victims are black is not fair IMO... These entertainers are into sensationalism, they will say anything to make a statement no matter how un-informed they are. I think they have a greater responsibility than that. Kayne and other who are trying to make this out to be a racial thing and a Bush bashing need to put that on the back burner..

I just feel that ALL people in America should be heard and represented when the agendas are being discussed. If it doesn't have political worth, some guys just feel it's not important. GW is one of those guys.

Let's say New Orleans was filled with a bunch of owners of powerful companies in this nation. Let's say these people who are trapped and stranded, no food no water in site (just like my grandmother) were "important" to the federal goverment. New Olreans would be a ghost town right now. It wouldn't be filled with people like my family who are pretty much being deserted.

Important people who hold a lot of federal gov. interest vs. a community of black people in the inner city

Who do YOU think is more important to a guy like GW?

Turn on your tv and just observe.

That's known as tokenism.

I don't know whether or not he cares about black people. I do know that he is mostly concerned with his base.

Leaders are supposed to rise above the fray, especially those who claim, however falsely, that they are a uniter, not a divider.

while kanye may not have been 100% right, he was pretty damn close. it goes back to the 80's:
http://www.cnn.com/video/player/player.html?url=/video/us/2005/09/02/udoji.katrina.race.factor.affl

and believe it or not entertainers aren't the only one's questioning whether race is an issue:

Kaney was right, but he just missed the fact that Bush doesnt care about poor people and middle class in general, black or white.

He only cares for the big moeny international corporations that put him in power. But hey thats what the Repbublican party is their for, to resperesent big business. I mean its the American people fault for being retarded and voting him into office.

We made the bead and now we have to lie in it. When the voter turnout is like 50% a president like Bush is what such an apathetic nation deserves, maybe his 8 year reign of idiocy and deseat will awaken the American people from a stupifed consumesristic state that they have been in since the 60's.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

agreed. I dont like how this situation has been handled but it has more to do with wealth than with race.
