Yeah I saw it... in fact I got home in the 9th with one out after playing some pickup games with Guns a bunch of other people. Alot of people rag on AROD, but he's got 18 game winning RBI this year, leads the AL. Not too bad. Yanks are gunning for the Sox baby!

I'm glad to see A-Rod come through, but game-winning RBI is joke stat. How many of those were in one of the first 3 innings? I'd rather have Sheffield or Matsui up in a clutch situation.

sheff and matsui are incredibly clutch but A-Rod has had his fair share of big hits this year. I just love all 3 hitters. A-Rod is by far the best defensively though. The plays he's made at 3rd this year have been spectacular

Thats a good point Bonn, I didnt think about that. Since you said that I decided to do a little research on the subject... some pretty interesting results.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/batting?team=nyy&season=2005&split=60&seasonType=2&type=reg
I went to ESPN and selected the Stat Split of the whole Yankees roster in "Close and Late" situations... as the link shows Matsui is far and away the best clutch hitter on the Yankees, hitting .367 with 6HRs and 25 rbi in those situations. Bernie is second with 19 RBI incredibly while hitting .217, not sure how that works haha. And then theres ARod, hitting .295 with 10rbi in those situations.

Good point Bonn. Those stats don't include todays games so ARods average and RBI total should jump up a bit, same with Matsui. ARod really isnt as bad in the clutch as people say though, I'll give you the first half of last year he was terrible but he was the only hitting in the series against Twins last year and now this year he's just really showing people he can do it. Matsui is unbelieveable in these situations though, it amazing to see a guy with that high of an average in such a pressure situation.

Yeah but the stat I showed is Close and Late situations. Which is the 7th inning and later when the game is in within 2 or 3 runs I believe. But your right about Sheffield's average with RISP, but that has nothing to do with that other stat.
