Nugget from Mitch Lawernce at NY Daily News:

"Fearing Mike Dunleavy will go back to Duke, meaning Cavs get Chris Wilcox at No. 6, Knicks are thinking of using the No. 7 on Indiana's Jarred Jeffries. At least those were the strong signals coming out of Knickland this past week. Jeffries supposedly has put on 20 pounds of muscle since the Final Four. Knicks fans can forget having Caron Butler fall into their laps. Nuggets love UConn stud and don't intend on passing on him at No. 5."

Jeffries would fit the criteria of a bigman that could score and demand double teams but I'm not so sure if he could be a legitimate defensive stopper even at his size, he probably could develop into a nice shot blocker someday though he is 6-11 with athleticism

I believe you have that backwards. If he could do anything on this level it would be defense. He is not a scorer per say. He is more of an all around player. He is unselfish which perhaps would not be a bad thing for this team. As for a double team, maybe he can develop into that but he won't come into the league with those skills.

Jeffries has the ability to become an incredible scorer both from the outside and from the inside now maybe I wasn't clear but I don't believe he would be able to step right in and become a dominant force inside.

what happenned to us picking Nene?

I think if dunleavy pulls out, the order will be:

1-ming
2-jwill
3-wagner
4-butler
5-wilcox
6-gooden
7-?

I would love for the Knicks to pick up another pick so we can get Jefferies, at first I didn't think too much about him but after he measured in at 6'11'' and some project him as being a small forward he would meet my ideal Knick team. Hilario with the 7th, Jefferies with the other pick if the Knicks could get it. Hilario, Camby and Jefferies. All with a wing Span of 7+ feet that would be havoc for opponents. and add Parker who some say has a wing span of 6'10'' at the point with the second round pick. The team would be full of defensive monsters.

I don't see the Knicks acquiring another pick. The Knicks simply don't have the assets to pull off a deal that would return a top 10 pick.

Does anyone else get kind of a Charles Smith vibe from Jeffries?

Charles Smith was a good player but he had the knees of a 50 year old. Jefferies I don't think has problems with his knees like Charles did.
