looks like the PG is craw, steph at SG, and tim at SF to start the season.

tim - man i don't know what we're going to get from him. he could be the man or he could play his way to splinter duty.

but whatever the case, it looks like Q is the odd man out and will be the 6th man with a license to shoot (microwave anybody?).

man, going from a starting SG of a 62 win team, to a sixth man on a 33 win team. wow.

That SF spot will open up for Q if/when TT is traded. He'll be a vital 6th man in the meantime.

where are you getting this, other than the articles that were first written when Brown was hired? just curious.

I have a feeling Ariza will be starting for TThomas by January 1.

Just that good ol' offseason speculation. Adds a little spice to the summer.

true, it is my frank isola moment.

it is pure djsunyc speculation.

but going by LB's statements on steph to the SG, and steph's statements of playing the SG (which, btw, he's all of the sudden gung ho about - i wonder why?) who esle is going to play PG - maybe it's the the guy he said is an underrated ball handler in craw. which leaves the SF spot. so will Q start at the SF spot over tim - the expiring deal? imho, probably not.

so yes, it is pure speculation, but i came to my hypothesis based on some logical reasoning.

Q is the odd man out in terms of starting.

I don't think LB is going to care that TT is an expiring deal or not, if TT continues to be gazy, Q deserves to start over him & he probably will. LB is going to care more about winning and guys that play hard, than playing a guy to artifically boost his trade value.

I'm pretty positive Crawford is coming off the bench and Marbs is starting the season at PG. No other starting lineup makes any sense.
Marbs is the best point guard, Q best SG and best SF on the team, unless Brown plans on unleashing the same offense he had in Indiana (reggie miller/Crawford running off screens, bangers down low, penetrate and dish PG, etc.) there is no reason to believe that Q (our only three point threat and one of 3 post up players on the team) will not be in the starting lineup.

It's really between craw and TT as to who the starter will be.

Q and marbs are starting, marbs at PG, Q at SF or SG.

though, there is this article:

http://msgnetwork.com/content_news.jsp?articleID=v0000msgn20050823T185251617
The Knicks and Houston have gone though it enough that the Knicks have already moved in another direction. Larry Brown has pointed to a roster with Stephon Marbury shifting to the shooting guard spot, with Jamal Crawford at the point and Quentin Richardson backing up Marbury and also playing some small forward. That leaves little room or need for Houston.

Brownbag has went on about the Knicks not being good this season for different reasons. I think he is onboard with doing stuff to get the roster in a certain way. I really believe TT will be the focal point. Much like he did to him before the Buck trade back in Philly. When he got traded from Philly he was having some of his best games as a Sixer. If Miami didn't make their moves, I know they would have gone after him. I mean in the right situation TT is a nice addition to a ball club that is making a push and for the right money. But if these KG rumors are true I think that he will work out well for them. They like guys like him.

yeah, a 6-10 athletic big man that can post up and hit the 3.

It's almost a wet dream...he could be the next KG. wait, we already have KG on the roster. If he could block shots and rebound. nevermind.

I am so tired of people overhyping Quentin Richardson. The guy is not that good. His best days were with the paperclips when he hit the boards. TT can stroke the 3 as good as Q, probably better. The guy doesn't play defense and is only 6'6" at best. He ain't that big of a deal. Get over him. LB will.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

You make Q sound like he's 35 or something. He's 25 and hopefully will see some of his best days on the KNICKS. This cat is far from a bum.

That's not hype, just hope. If anything, he'll improve while under Larry Brown's tutelage.

Q avg. more rebounds than TT and when used properly can score 17ppg. Q is indeed a good player. No one is making him out to be an elite player. He will help us a lot tho. Q gives us the same advantage at the 2, that TT does at the 3. They are bigger than the typical 2 or 3 and can post them up with ease. When Herb started positing TT a lot, he really picked up his game and the Knicks started playing MUCH better. I think we should continue to use TT that way and he'll be VERY effective. Just like Q will be more effective for us when we get him away from 3pt line and closer to the basket. We have Sweets, TT & Q who all have posting advantages. JJ will get his fair share of chances too. Overall I think you underestimate the value of this strength. Q & TT can also hit from deep and that means that opposing defenses will have a hard time covering on matter who is in the post and who is outside. This will leave Steph, JC, Ariza & N8 free to slash to the basket more freely.

for the record,

Q shot .358 from 3pt range last year

TT shot .409 from 3pt range last year

TT's career #'s are also a little better.

While TT might be soft, he does have a good shot from outside- I haven't seen Q play, but none of his numbers are that impressive, unless you count missed three point attempts!

I think you need someone in the starting 5 who can be a legit threat from outside- mid range and 3pt range.

Marbs is ok

Crawford is streaky

Ariza is still developing

Q might have a good year, but

I think TT has to be in the starting lineup

for his shooting and for keeping his trade value up.

Now- I personally would rather have Craw come off the bench as a 1 or 2

Exactly, craw is the baby of the bunch and is signed longer term...I'd like to see him abuse second strings until he's ready to assume a starting role. If craw and n8 have the chemistry they seem to display in other posts, that could be a nice back court.

I'm in love with our bench. N8, Craw, Reezy, ?PF?LEE!, Frye.
