Would you do this trade?

New York trades: 2nd Round Draft Pick #36, PF Kurt Thomas, PG Howard Eisley, SG Allan Houston
New York receives: SF James Posey, PF Juwan Howard, 1st Draft Round Pick #5

For the 5th pick we get Nickoloz Tskitishvili.
For the 7th pick we get Maybyner "Nene" Hilario

Why would Denver do it? The Nuggets are desperate to be respectable so they can keep McDyess. They have a lot of holes and they would fill it up with 1 trade. We send the 2nd Rd Draft pick to sweeten the deal a bit. Their lineup would be...C - Scott Williams/Menk Bateer PF- Kurt Thomas SF - McDyess SG - Houston PG - Tim Hardaway/Eisley. Their bench would be pretty solid with Cheaney, Lenard, and Harvey.

Why would we do it? We get rid of the flaw structure and we get taller!!!!

NY Lineup
C - Hilario
PF - Camby
SF - Tskitishvili
SG - Sprewell
PG - Jackson

Bench
Ward, Harrington, Spoon, Anderson, Postell, Knight

Sweet.

This is why Denver won't do it. They want to keep Howard because his contract expires at the end of the year something like 20 million+. They will let Howard walk or sign him to a lesser deal there is no way he gets the contract he got. They like Posey a lot for his defense and he is coming around in scoring. They don't want Houston's monster contract. They are not going to build around McDyess because he is coming off injury and they don't know if his game is ever going to be the same.

Your points are well taken. But I am banking on the fact that Denver is not a team that free agents will flock and sign with. The only way they get a star player is through trades. Say what you will about Houston and his monster contract, but he is a player and he has skills. They also get a PF in Kurt Thomas that is on the rise and a servicable PG in Eisley (snicker). If they let McDyess play out his contract they will be in rebuilding mode for the next 10 years. Having a lineup of C-Bateer/Williams PF K. Thomas SF - McDyess SG Houston PG Hardaway/Eisley can actually make them a playoff team in the 6-8 seed in the west.

Isn't McDyess a PF? I don't see him playing SF any time soon.

That would be ridiculous. They give up the # 5 pick in the draft and dont get a star in return, come on. Plus they give up a 18mil cap clearer for who Allan Houston (cap killer). This trade doesnt makke sense talentwise or moneywise.

Denver definitely wouldn't do that. And if they did, Thomas would play center, McDyess power forward.
