Walker's Physical Leads Miami To Cut Two Guaranteed Years Off Contract
21st August, 2005 - 11:49 am

ESPN - Antoine Walker's physical gave the Heat cause for pause, so much so that his contract is now guaranteed for four years instead of the original six year, The Boston Globe reported.

Walker, acquired in a 13-player deal from the Boston Celtics , and his agent Mark Bartelstein feel that Walker will earn the entire six-year deal in the long run.

"I believe Antoine will get every dollar of the six years," Bartelstein told the paper. "I don't think anything will change. From a practical standpoint, nothing has changed. We think he'll get every dollar of the six years and it won't be an issue at all."

Bartelstein also emphasized that Walker did not fail the physical.

"What happened is, there were some concerns about some issues," Bartelstein told The Globe. We addressed the concerns and I believe he's going to get the full $53 million of his contract."

I didn't realize that Cleveland hadn't brought him back. If this kid gets a shot somewhere he's going to be good. I wasn't sure what he'd translate into when coming out of highschool but he proved that he can score at a highrate because he did it in college. I hope he gets a shot somewhere, he's just so damn talented. A team like Toronto or New Orleans should definately work him out, they can use any help they can get in the backcourt scoring wise.

The Lakers trade with the Bucks for Kareem was pretty good too, and Bellamy and Komives for DeBuscherre deserves some consideration.

The Kareem trade was great for the Lakers.

But interestingly the team was never that good until Magic came on board. And Kareem caught tons of bad press for his play, even while he was winning league MVP awards. In fact his role in Airplane played off that, with some kid telling him his dad said Kareem sucked and Kareem grabbing him and saying Tell your Dad to drag Lanier up and down the court on his back for 48 minutes!

The Debuschere trade absolutely too.

And how about Parish and McHale for Joe Barry Carroll!

But the very best was Marbury for junk and more junk!!!

Airplane was hilarious.

And didn't the Lakers trade Dan Ford to the Cavaliers for the draft pick that they ultimately used to pick Magic?

The pick was actually Utah's but it went to LA as compensation for signing Gail Goodrich as a FA 3 years earlier.

Imagine that s**t! (must have been Scott Layden's 1st deal )
