Let's say, hypothetically, that the Clipps lack chemistry next season, and look to make a slight makeover to their roster, with Sam I Am nagging Dunleavy to start him, and the backcourt in general just not clicking...

Would the Clipps go for something like this, and do you think GS and NY would oblige?

To NY:

Maggette
Fisher

To GS:

Tim Thomas

To LA:

Dunleavy
Ariza
Cheaney(expiring)

Why?

Well, for the Clipps, there's always the possibility the team will really implode, especially with Livingston not being in-tune to the rotation, and Cassell being himself. What if Dunleavy gives in and starts Cassell and Livingston in the backcourt with Mobley at SF? Add to that the fact that the Clipps don't have much depth, and they MIGHT consider dealing Maggs. Plus the coach wouldn't mind having his son onboard. Cheaney just for some cap space.

Knicks get a Snow-type pg in Fisher (despite the bad contract), and on the plus side, get an All-Star caliber Forward in Maggs.

GS clears huge salary...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

How will trading for Magette help our team??? Do you even know what our team really need??? Let's not forget that we still have to get rid of 2 more of our PFs...

2 more???

Wtf are you talkin about? We just got rid of JYD. What does Maggette bring? A selfless attitude and All-Star talent. A starting 5 of Marbs, Q, Maggs, Sweets, and James with Craw & Co. off the bench would easily make us favorites in the Atlantic...

Mobley is undersized for SG. He is 6 4 going on 6 3. Him playing SF is just out of the question. That aside, why are we trading for yet another swing player and pickin up a bum huge contract in the process?

We don't need Magette, we alredy have pleny of SG/SF on the team, and giving up Ariza to get a redundant player is not a good idea.

That and I'm never ever going to be for pickin up that bum Fisher. He sucked for the Lakers, and then he sucked even more for the Warriors, who must have been on crack when they gave him the deal. Now not only does he suck, he also has an obscence contract. No thanks. Think Charlie Ward makin Shanden Anderson money, but worse.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Some Knick fans are just way too picky or fickle. It's kind of naueseating...

I wouldnt do this. If Tim Thomas or Penny is to be traded, its for someone that will be a presence in the paint. I would rather watch the contracts run out for nothing than trade for Maggette.

^ I can respect that, but personally, I think Maggs is enough of a talent in general to justify it.

I agree. We would add talent, but we would be such a lop=sided team. Other moves would have to follow. if we could get Magette, it would have to be because we were trading him, Craw, or Q. Just to add him to the mix and stay put seems ridiculous to me.

Fisher and Maggette would fit well under Larry brown cause they both play defense especially Derek fisher. You got to remember that Magette came into the league when he wwa 19 and he's probably 26 now.

MAggette with his chiseled body is considered a good defender.

Brown would help him become an unselfish player

I'd do this trade. Maggette's awesome. He's very tough, very strong, a very good scorer and rebunder. BTW, he averaged TEN free throw attempts per game last season.

I'd like to get Maggette, though I am skeptical of giving up on Ariza. Maggette is a far better player, but I like where Ariza is headed. I am not big on Fisher. I like NRob better and given the opportunity to play Nate, I would take that over Fisher, that said, it appears Brown wants a PG more like the DFisher or ESnow mold.

I'm with Silverfuel on this one. While I like Maggette and I think he's a good player on both sides of the ball I think if we're trading either TT or Penny that we need to trade them for a big man becuase lets face it, the Knicks need a frontcourt scorer in the the worst way and I wouldn't want to trade these key pieces for anything other then that frontcourt scorer.

^ Fair enough. I can see where you're coming from. You know I would've put in Brand if I felt he'd EVER be available, but I just don't.

I would make that trade in a heartbeat. Apparently people on this board didn't watch Maggette torch us in the Garden last season - the guy has a ton of talent and is getting better every year. The only problem I have with this proposal is why would Golden State make this deal? Is moving Fisher's contract really so important that they'd just give Dunleavy away? I couldn't see that happening...

I think they were offering up Maggette for Paul Pierce. Why on Earth would they go from that to Dunleavy and Ariza.

It depends - if they start playing really poorly this season they may decide to change their time-frame - dunleavy is yougner and ariza is very young, with shaun livingston. maybe they'll try to trade brand for bosh or something.

I'm down with this trade.....Maggs and Q have played with each other before but not with a real point like Marbs. Add Ariza, Craw and Nate to the mix. The Knicks would have plenty of role players around all this perimeter firepower, maybe too much but there can never be too much.

Knicks would be back.....in a big, big way......everyone would be fresh for 82 games, the injury bug would not even faze the Knicks. I think mission would be accomplished for Isiah and there will always be room for a trade in Feb!!!

Get Maggs!

Why? Because right now Corey Maggette is NOT going to make the Knicks that much of a better team. What will the make the Knicks a MUCH better team is by acquiring a frontcourt scoring presence and the only way the Knicks can do that is by trading either TT or Penny, which is why I don't want to use one of those chips for soemone like Maggette, whom is a good player but not the player the Knicks need at the moment.
