I mean we should give the team one year to get it's self organized.

Unless we dont have our 2006 1st rounder. If we do, we should try to showcase the younger talent in hopes of landing a top notch PF.

I have this fantasy of Corey Maggette blowing out his knee, Sam Cassel on the IR, Chris Wilcox playing amazingly and all of the sudden Elton Brand getting real depressed.

The Knicks call over and offer Tim Thomas, Channing Frye, and Nate Robinson (who's playing gang busters) along with our 2007 1st rounder for Elton. I'll miss Nate, but he's never starting or getting serious minutes here with Stephon being untouchable.

This is a silly scenario, but dont you think it would be better to play the youngins than stockpile the oldins? I think Isiah mentioned not adding any veterans as insurance, only aquiring young players. So I think he's on that route.

I wouldn't give up that much for Elton Brand. I'd do that for KG, not Elton Brand.

I love Elton Brand. I'd give up "that much" for him in a minute. He is a monster on the boards especially offensive, he blocks 2 shots a game, he scores at will down low, he defends PF's and can play center. We have a much better chance of getting him, and he's from NYC. He would be PERFECT.

yeah but you are trading your whole future away for an undersized PF whose game is based largely on athleticism. Its late I'll re-evaluate this in the morning.

I don't see a deal like this even close to happening. On their end, they'll get alot of unproven youth in exchange or a PF that a team can be built around. On our end, we'd fill the 4 spot lovely, but at the expense of the majority of our youth movement. IMO we're giving up too much.

Plus, LB is going to play Starbury @ the 2, so N8 will have ample opportunity for playing time.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I think thats overpaying at this point. I love Brands game but no need to bail out the Clippers. TT + a pick or the Clippers choice of Frye or Nate. Not all 3. For all we know Frye will be better.

Brand is really good. I really love his game in the post. He is such an incredible threat in the paint, I would not hesitate too much in trade TT, Frye and Nate. Brand is a very good defender too. He gives Duncan, Rasheed and KG a hard time while blocking 2 a game. This guy is for real. He is a franchise level talent. I know he is undersized and that is a minus so I dont blame you. The palyoffs thing though, KG only made the playoffs once in his career so far. I think Brand in NY with Steph and Q will be a very good team and with a coach like Brown a contender.

Undersized doesnt mean anything when you pull down a career average of 10 rebounds a game, block 2 shots a game, and give elite Western Conference PFs fits everytime you play them. Elton is the real deal, he's a franchise PF that anytime in this league could build around. I'd do this deal because we're giving up 2 unproven talents, a fugaazy and a 2006 1st rounder that might not be that great in a draft that excludes anyone under 19 for a bonafide franchise player.

KG has only made it past the first round once. But otherwise, KG has made the playoffs tons.

I don't think they'll have to try. It'll just come naturally for this group.

wouldnt really want to part with Frye, but TT, nate, and maybe 2 1sts would be fine by me.

Heresy.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I'd give up almost ANYTHING for Brand.

Timmy, Pick(s), and a Prospect or 2...

I had a brain cramp and got mixed up for some reason. I dont think it is completely Brand's fault he hasnt made the playoffs. The Chicago team was a mess and he was a rookie. Upto last season, the West was the toughest conferences in years. It was very hard for Brand with young guards in Maggette and Q upto last year. Their coaches werent that great either. I am not a big fan of Dunlevy but he is the best coach they have had so far.

Elton Brand is 26 and just entering his prime. He has everything needed to be a franchise talent. If there is a chance like toodarkmark has talked about to get Brand, I think we should do it. We need a low post threat. We need presence in the paint on offense and defense.

Same here. He is a good defender and an absolute beast on the boards. If he didnt have to concentrate on offense, he would average 15 rebs a game. The dude is 26 years old and has been a double double machine. I would trade almost any player on the Knicks roster for Elton Brand.
