How is Rudy Gay not #1 on that list? That is absolutely ridiculous. I like Rondo but how do they place even Boone ahead of Gay!!! USA needs to watch some more games.

how is rudy gay not at number 1? because right now he's not the number 1 prospect in my book. that subject to change, but right now, imho, rondo has moved into the number 1 prospect position for the nBA draft next year among USA basketball players

I can see the headlines.

Rudy G drafted by the Knicks. But not Giuliani!

Gay Street is moving uptown.

Chelsea. Nah. The Village? Nah! MADISON SQUARE GARDEN LIKE WHAT!

BTW do we have our 06 1st round pick? Didnt we send it to Phoenix in the Stephon trade?

I bet that is a big seller. Can you imagine if he was drafted by NY--and his jersey read NY gay? Not that there is anything wrong with that

Gay needs to show aggresiveness. He showed flashes, he still is only 18. The hot player this year will be Rondo. He's the closest thing to Iversen since Iversen and he was the best player by far on the U21 team including Gay. He is by far the best defensive guard prospect since AI, actually he's better than AI in that regard imho, fom waht I have seen--hes not the scorer AI is, but he is much more of a true PG, but he will show much more coring this year. Simply he is unstoppable, lightning quick and a PURE impact player on both ends. he needs to improve his shot, but AI wasnt the best long range shooter-when this kid gets to the nba he will get to the hole on command when he wishes, hes that long and quick. I think you've got some real solid bigs, but no franchise player and Gay is a ? in a lot of areas. right now, hes Darius Miles with a better jumper and a better attitude, but he doesnt play with fire. Gibson is a serious player, but hes kind of 1-2, but he wont drop past 10 if not top 5.
To me Rondo is the best prospect right now. I can see him moving up to 14 pts 7-8 assits 5 rebounds 4 steals this year and shooting +50% from the field.

Haha Briggs, I thought you were saying USA Today listed their top10 prospects, I misread that, didn't know you were saying your Top USA prospects. So to clear that up, I will politely disagree with you about Gay not being number 1.

While I agree with you that Rondo is a top prospect, I disagree with the Iverson comparison, I think he's more of a Wade type with less ability to score on penetration like Wade did for Marquette. Rondo's NCAA tourney showing really bumped him a number of spots in my book. I just think Rudy Gay has; the height, the shooting, and ability to penetrate to the hoop and the ability to be a defensive playmaker. I know you said as of now, but you also said for the 2006 draft so I'm going to put Rudy Gay #1 on this list becuase his sophmore year this coming season is going to be lights out. I would be hopeful that Boone would do the same but I dont know... theres something that really scared me about him last year, it seems like he just didn't care out there and you might be able to attribute that to the typical sophmore slump and I hope you do because Boone has the ability to be a very special NBA power forward.

Just curious Briggs, how come you left out Ronnie Brewer? He's a 6'7 Guard who can exceptionally handle and pass the ball for his size and has an outstanding shot to go along with his above average man on man Defense. I didn't get to see him THAT much since I obviously don't live in Arkansas and Arkansas isn't good enough to warrant a ton of TV time but thats what I get from when I've seen him the 3 or 4 times they've been on TV the last 2 years.. he really kinda reminds me of the way Penny was pre-injury. That explosiveness and the good midrange game on offense.

From what i've seen and read about him. McRoberts looks like he can be real deal.
