Phoenix needs a shooting guard, they have money, and they are close to the top. They also like to run and there are more than enough shots to go around. Spree also plays defense. I think he is better than Joe Johnson any day.

I did not realGM it so I don't know if there are other factors I need to consider.

Other spots I think Sprewell likely may land in order of likelihood IMO:

1) Denver: They need a shooting guard and he fits in with their style and upgrades their defense.

2) Sacramento: Even though Stojakovic is shooting guard they need to fill the Christie/Mobley hole, and Bonzi Wells aint it if theyt are smart in Sacramento, which they have been of late.

3) Cleveland: They can use a shooting guard.

4) Dallas: They have Stackhouse, but they like to pile it on.

5) Houston: He is better than Sura, Bigger than Wesley, and Jon Barry is not as good either. Sprewell already has a relationship with Van Gundy.

6) Utah: Lastly, I have feeling he might wind up in Utah. Sprewell may not seem to be a Utah-type guy, but Harpring seems to be breaking down fast, and Kirlenko and Boozer need an outside threat.

That's it off the top of my head.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I think phoenix is a good fit for him too, because at this stage he is pretty much a 4th option type player - and he's got the best or second-best distributor to get him open shots or, more importantly, find him when he cuts to the basket. double teams for amare and marion will get him a lot of open looks.
Nash, Spree, Marion, Amare, Kurt with raja bell, jim jackson, brian grant off the bench could win it all because they have defensive stoppers and more depth. Less outside threats but Nash is a pretty good shooter as are bell and jackson. If they get payton with the trade exception then they are in real good shape, even though I think Barbosa will be fine coming off the bench.

Houston would be a good fit, as would Denver because Denver hasn't had a good 2 in a while. Cleveland has larry hughes so he'd probably be coming off the bench as a 7th or 8th man. Dallas with Christie probably won't offer anything to Spree, and I can't see Spree playing in Utah. I can see him on Detroit or the Spurs though, as a backup to Ginobili/Bowen - he's a better defender than barry and a better penetrator, much worse shooter and passer though
