Kidd definitely needs a backup at point guard - Charlie Ward would be a perfect fit - and the Nets may need to upgrade the frontcourt. Their trade bait unquestionably is Van Horn, though it's uncertain what kind of value he would bring back because of his big contract.

---------

Hopefully not for Van Horn. Hopefully we don't trade Ward for Players with longer contracts ... ward has only 2 years left... a player with 1 year left would be key. By the way, K-Mart was sick last night. Sick.

they mention maybe aaron williams. Eisley would be a good backup to dump on them, especially if we draft a point with our second round pick. (Steve Logan?)

Ward for Williams sounds reasonable. We don't really need another power forward, but we could always use more toughness. Williams is one of the better reserve role players in the league. We didn't hear his name much this season, but he really made a nice impact with NJ. I would do a deal like that in a second.

Hmmmm....Keith Van Horn is the Nets version of Allan Houston. Shoots well, doesn't do anything else and is capable of dissapearing when it really matters.

williams' contract is long as anything though... (NETS) they'd want a pick probably too... i'd say just wait out our contracts unless we can trade long ones for shorter ones.

You make very good points. Van Horn is a shooter, but the good thing is Allan Houston became a little more of a scorer this year rather than just a shooter. He created more shots for himself, ran off picks, and so forth. He's still capable of pulling his usual disappearing acts, but maybe that will be something he works on not doing next season.
