^ He's restricted I think.

I believe Isiah is willing to work out a S&T (that's what reports are saying).

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I read there was a mandate in Indy to curb spending and that they won't match.

http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/51322.htm
Jones, 24, is a restricted free agent. The Pacers have the right to match any Knick offer, but likely won't because of a budget mandate, and because they drafted Danny Granger.

So where is the roster spot coming from?

I would definitely rather have Diop than Jones, simply because we don't need anymore swingmen. He'll end up taking time away from Ariza and Lee if he plays, and those two are better defenders. At least Diop can play a position we are thin at, center.

Hmm lets see, 15 roster spots right.

Marbury,Q,Craw,Nate,Houston,Penny - thats 6 to the guards

TT, Ariza, Jones, Rose, Taylor, Sweetney, Lee - 7 to the forwards

James, Frye - 2 centers

So this might be the end of Bruno Sundov's NBA career, unofrtunatley its many years to late lol.

Butler to the NBDL? Or is it Lee?

Yeah 15 spots. Wasn't that why we waived JYD? Because we needed the roster spot?

I think it's safe to say that there is no way houston will be on the active roster and is retiring before the season starts.

How is it safe to say that? Houston also said 2 days ago that people can forget about him retiring and that he just laughs at the suggestion. Unless you have a quote from Houson saying that he's definitely going to retire before the season starts if he's not able to play by then, if isn't safe to say.

You still have your head completely up Isiah's behind. Go by that.

I still have no idea who this james is...or Diop. They don't seem to matter in the grand scheme of things. IMHO.

Maybe we are packaging TT and Sweets for a PF stud?

But they do, these are young guys who have upside, these are the guys who maybe in 2 or 3 years become real players on other teams and we sit in here whining, asking why we can't get young players like that. You get good young players when their stock is low, you don't get those types of players when they blow up to be Brad miller, or michael Redd..

Good post man.....i swear we think alike.

i don't believe Houston will retire at any time this season...imo he'll give it 1 more go & then if he can't come back by the end of the season, then maybe i can picture him seriously considering retirement in the offseason...i don't count on his roster spot opening up this season...Isiah will have to pull off some kind of 2 for 1 deal if he wants to open up any more roster spots.

So that's 14 players if Houston retires; 15 if he doesn't. Either way there's room for another player; he just might have to go to the NBDL for a year.

You guys do realize there's a difference b/w "active" roster and just the plain ol' roster......right?

Jackie Butler counts on the roster if he's playing in the NBDL or WNBA or whatever.
