From Insider:
Q: I think the Suns definitely need a power forward with their No. 9 pick. Both Nene Hilario and Amare Stoudemire have been in for workouts and seem like good fits. My question is, which one is better? -- Cindy, Flagstaff, Ariz.
FORD: Nene or Stoudemire? This is what the NBA draft has come to. Both players have worked out well and have a lot similarities. They already have NBA bodies, they both love contact in the paint, rebound, block shots and run the floor. And, they're both very raw. With that said, the general consensus right now is that Hilario is a few notches above Stoudemire for several reasons. One, the competition Hilario has faced in Brazil is much stiffer than the high school kids Stoudemire has been beating up on. Second, Hilario is much more polished on the offensive end than Stoudemire. While neither player can shoot the lights out, Hilario has a decent mid-range jumper and a number of low-post moves. Stoudemire can dunk. Finally, Nene has measured 6-foot-11 1/4 in shoes with a 7-foot-4 wingspan. Given his ability to play with his back to the basket, several teams I talked to said it's a good possibility that Nene could be a center in the league. He's got really wide shoulders and a frame that could add another 25 or 30 pounds to it. If that becomes a consensus, he won't be around when Phoenix picks at No. 9. Stoudemire will be, but if Nene and Chris Wilcox are both off the board, I think Phoenix will draft Nikoloz Tskitishvili. Tskitishvili lacks the pro body of Nene and Stoudemire, but has the potential to be a Dirk Nowitzki-like four. How can you pass on that?
