If allan does retire, then the move to waive JYD makes much sense financially.

For the knicks to get insurance money, doesnt allan HAVE to make an attempt this fall?

for for all we know, this how it all plays out!

Of course Allan can play at a lower level, but perhaps this has all be decided!

And if I am allan, for this decision to really sink in, he has to try, otherwise he is left to wondering!

it's very possible.
it's also possible that allan will not retire and become a 5 min/game player and still cost $40 mil.

i think whenever a team transaction happens, we all get a knee-jerk reaction to it.
it's not really until down the line when we'll know whether it was part of a good plan, a bad plan, or no plan.

Finally some rational thought It amazes me the level of negative expressions on this and many other Knicks forums. The whole city is jaded. We've lost every ounce of optimisim. Its sad really.

This point was repeatedly made here yesterday.

Of course, if he doesn't retire, then the genius is an imbecile.

IF Houston does retire. Can we use his expiring contract next off-season in a deal? I remember this was done with Mashburn last year some time.

Mash has not retired.

5 a game at 20 mil per? Yes, that would be the nightmare!

But Is that the deal? Is that what allan wants? ride the pine?

Im thinking positive that there are parameters to his return.

Isiah: He was right to suggest to Allan to Retire, it was wrong to make it surface to the press whomever did it. If one can be patient, it will all work out!

I feel like we are going in the somewhat right direction. Im not big on Q or Big Game, and while I would have preferred to go a different angle in the draft, I still like Frye and Robinson. Moving Craw to PG is exciting, Ariza can hopefully pull it up a notch.

But NY fans in general are not going to be sold on cr*p like Jerome James 2/162 double doubles, poor attitude, to many DNPs and we bought him for showing up 4 games in the playoffs. Q is not even close to being a Sprewell Houston Starks G
The constant buying and dumping of players has also been a merry go round.

I feel good about the direction of getting younger, and I think Crawford at PG has some nice potential, but the whole key to me atleast is CHANNING FRYE being good. IF Frye is NOT a really good player, we will NOT be good for a LONG time. I cant say it enough, Frye is a pivotal player.

My hope is for 43 wins but I can see us winning 35 again as well. The upside is probably 45-46. Optomism for the Knicks is rightfully guarded. I really dont want to bring in anymore guys who havent proven they can shoot 40% unless they are a rookie or a special circumstance skill player or 7 footer.

I'd like to see Diop added and then roll with what we have. What players around the league are realistically available?
