We all know this was a Dolan move not to cut Allan from the team.

Let's say sometime during this season, Allan officially hangs up the sneakers..

Do you really think Dolan and the Knicks will do a dedicated ceremony for the team's captain or even retire his # MAybe?? Since Dolan owns the team and loves Allan Houston, betcha he'll make sure #20 gets hung over the rafters...

We'll see !!!

No one will boo a Knick that retires a Knick.

I hope your right. He wasnt a star and sadly is too often judged by "the contract" but he was a good player on good teams for a long time. Definatly the last holdover from a very fun era

Houston hardly deserves to have his number retired.

Marbury, yes. Ewing, yes. But that should be it from any Knick players within the past 20 years.

Only the best go to the rafters.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Marbury hasn't yet earned the right to have his number retired. He's only been here 2 years and hasn't won a playoff game yet. Let's see what he does under LB before we anoint him one of the "best".

No to Oak, LJ, Starks, and as much as I really like Allan, no to him.

There is no thought to Marbury either. His numbers are tracking more as a hall of famer and are higher than Allans. But he has not done a thing here!

Marbs only if he is on the roster of a championship team, or plays 10 years as a knick leading to a few (ewing) type championship runs. He would certainly be HOF material with some of those creds!

Houston's number should only be retired if he can somehow comeback and play a few more years at a high level on very good KNicks teams and/or win a championship. Not likely.

I'd have to say that even though Starks was a fan fave and an exciting player, Houston was better than he or Grandmama(As a Knick.).

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

i don't think i've ever seen a vote of confidence of this magnitude from ownership to player.

the ball is squarely in allan's court, what more can one ask for

If Marbury deserves to have his number retired as a Knick, then the vaule of "having your jersey lifted into the rafters" just dropped.
you have to be kidding me.

on another note, I just read an article where Allan Houston laughed at the talk of him retiring.

there's only one other knick in the past 15 years that MAYBE, and that's MAYBE, has a shot and that's oakley. otherwise, nobody is even close. not starks, not h20, not eisley, nobody. action jackson wasn't here long enough nor was he here during the glory days.

Just like Allan laughed about his decrepit azz retiring, I find the thought of his number getting hung anywhere except out to dry hil-friggin-larious.

All those players that never made it to the rafters that played on those classic teams in the 90's, especially Oak & Starks, and Allan gets consideration? Please. Were it not for MJ, there would've been more recent additions than just retired number banners in the rafters. They earned the kind of respect that would at least have their names mentioned in a "Whose Numbers Should Be Retired?" discussion.

Allan hasn't.

The next honoree to the rafters should be someone who ultimately will have helped us put a CHAMPIONSHIP banner up there too.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Starks, LJ or Oakley played well for the Knicks and probably would deserve it more than H20 but during those times Dolan wasn't the majority owner.. As of now, he control whatever happens...

If H20's jersey doesn't get put on the rafters by Dolan's command, Knicks mgmt might give him an office job..

I think Oak's number should be retired. I don't think Houston's should, but he was close.
