DALLAS -- Michael Finley's final day with the Dallas Mavericks arrived Monday, when the team waived its longtime leader and captain, ESPN.com's Marc Stein has learned.

Under a one-time amnesty provision in the NBA's new labor contract, the Mavericks saved $51 million in luxury taxes over the next three years by waiving Finley, who would become an unrestricted free agent.
Mavs did the right thing. Waive the guy that will save the most and clear the logjam.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

definitely especially since his issue is not a career ending injury like Houston who we need to just for to retire

So which teams still have money to sign this guy?

LOL Dallas tried until the last minute to trade Finley. That was a waste of time, since the whole NBA knew that they were strongly leaning towards waiving him anyway- now they can sign him for the LLE.

As for Houston, I was just hoping that the saga would finally be over, and the focus could be on Larry B and this new set of Knicks trying to turn to a winning page. I'm putting my money on him retiring.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

"Based on published reports, as many as 10 teams could pursue Finley when he clears waivers in 48 days.

Miami tops the list of possible suitors. This summer, the Heat has retooled with veterans in preparation for a title run – and still has its $5 million mid-level exception. Finley and Heat star Dwyane Wade share the same agent, Henry Thomas.

Nash has strongly lobbied Finley to come to Phoenix. The Suns need a shooting guard after sign-and-trade deal of Joe Johnson to Atlanta. Denver, Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, New York, Utah and San Antonio could be in the picture, too."

If the Heat get Finley, damn...
