would anyone would have preferred hunter 5 years 16.5 or james 5 years 28 mil?

i would take james, just cause he has a different game from anyone on the Knicks - big and power when not doing dumb fouls. Hunter might be redundant to Frye.

Pretty reasonable deal I suppose. I just haven't seen anything from Steven Hunter that says he should make anymore then that, I'm kinda surprised he didn't ask for a 3 year deal so he could have 3 really good years with ample playing time to show everyone that he's the player everyone think he can be. Nice pickup for the Sixers, he's a good shotblocker we know that, what more can he bring? That remains to be seen.

I would do either deal--James or Hunter, both are a risk but I like JJ's size in the middle.

another scrub signs, but at least it's reasonable at $3.3 mil per.

They prolly did not like Jackson lack of D.

I personally think they are in for a rude awakaning next season when they realize they don't have anybody who can man the post on defense. None of their bigs can defend the lowpost w/out gettin double team help. Only Webber has a body for it, but when has he ever defender the other team's primary post threat?

The Sixers are gonna get exposed inside, will have to collapse and they will give up a lot of open looks on the perimeter because of that. Couple that with AI prolly back at shooting guard with O'Brien gone, and you have a short backcourt with a soft inside, thats a recipie for a disaster of a defense.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

We gotta like what we have now as compared to next year. I'd run With Jerome James and Channing Frye and put those two guys against anyone in the league.

The Knicks will be alright next season at center.

Hunter has no skills. If James is overpaid at $5.8 mil per, Hunter is severely overpaid at $3.3 mil per. Hunter's never had a stretch remotely similar to James' playoff performances.

Good post.....I was gonna say something similiar.

Philly will get blocks at times with Dalembert and Hunter but neither guy can handle Jerome James especially if James comes to NY with the mentality that he can truly be a force on both ends every single game.

Like I said.....Knicks will be ok.

Sounds like a good frontline. Kind of reminds me of Bird, Mchale, Parrish

I wouldn't underestimate JJ and Frye like that.

I have to agree. While I think Marc Jackson sux ass, he compliments Dalemberts lack of an offensive game, what exactly does Steven Hunter compliment? He is Dalembert-lite.

So, the Sixers get a 23yr old 7'1" center who can run the floor, block shots, rebound and play solid D for 4 yrs - $16 million, with an option for a fifth year. And people thought I was crazy for saying we should offer him 4 yrs $15 million. We could have gotten a young center for half the price we paid for Jerome James. This kid is young, but rebounded and blocked shots better per minute than JJ. He would fit with the team - he runs, he's long and athletic.

Sigh.

Knicks should have gone after him just to have another body - but I guess there was no $$$ left after JJ. Who knows what they have up their sleeves though - I see Frye at the 4 and JJ at the 5. That will give the opposition some real problems with Q, Craw, and Steph in the backcourt. Although who would play backup 5 to JJ?

Frye is a 4 not a 5, give it time but it will happen (I think Briggs might have said this a while ago too).

On a side note, I hope Webber spent the summer rehabbing that knee and has a good season.

he also plays hard, shows up in shape, doesnt have a bad attitude and is commited to getting better. Look at the production they are pretty similar

Hmmm, I wonder why it took so long for him to find a new home...and why do people keep letting such a promising young stud get away...
