somebody made a video of his highlights last season.

a few observations:

- he gained alot of weight as the season went along
- but more importantly, i don't think there's ANY PF that can stop him from getting low post position and take a high % shot. we need to exploit that MORE this season.

I like Sweets. Not a lot of flash. Not a lot of frills. Just gets the job done. Of course his downside is obvious....his weight. This will be my last season hoping that he makes that adjustment. We'll see. But, he's my kind of player. I don't need a lot of flash. Whether you do a crazy windmill dunk or a layup it's just two points.

I also like that in the clip he had some and 1's. That's pretty common for him. I'd love to see how he develops under brown's disciplined system. Or maybe he won't be here at all. Who knows?

Wonderful clip. Show the great body control, soft touch, positioning. All he needs to be an all star is a few pounds less and working out with LB on his back.

Both Wallaces were able to stop him last season. Dwight Howard did a great job against him too. But yeah there are few 4s that can his "size" is too much for them especially since the term "power forward" is starting to diminish. Just look at the 2005 class of PFs, May is the biggest and most of that is baby fat.

Sweets arsenal of moves is far superior to Sean May. Those arms give him a big advantage.

Sweets just has to come back in better shape than last year. IF he does its going to be a great season for him. He has to realize that with KT gone its all him now. I think he does know this and will do what he has to do. I'm not expecting 250, just something around 260 would be good. I just don't think with his body type that he'll every really slim down too much, but as long as its more muscle than fat i'll be happy.

Great video.

Proves conclusively 3 things:

1. Marbury drops gorgeous dimes.

2. I miss Jamison Brewer.

3. It's the white uniform that makes Sweets look fat.

Sweetney - Borderline All Star at the very least next year. As mentioned before he's gotta be on the Haslem/Doleac/Malone workout plan

its too bad Isiah doesn't feel he needs to be. Just like how he used to feel shot-blocking was overrated then acquires JJ and says we needed a shot-blocker

A little. But I think Isiah is right about this. I think Sweets uses his rear end well, and I think his game will hurt if he loses it. Like a skinny Barkley. I think Sweets need to keep his weight in check and just get stronger but not smaller.

btw, this video is kinda cool, and makes me wonder why Sweetney wasn't used more his rookie year.

First of, of topic as it may be, May sucks, and Sweetney is so much better!

Secondly, this myth about him loosing weight needs to be shot down at some pont. His weight is his strengh, thats how he boxes out and gets posioning.

What Sweetney really needs is consistent playing time and somebody to teach him how to show on the perimeter w/out picking up the chip blockign faul. And his help defense in general, cause it arent like anybody is gonna back him down in the post.

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

he also needs to beable to keep up with quicker PFs so being in the 260-270 range instead of 285-300 won't hurt. Even if he losses some weight he will always have that wide bottom to disrupt defenders. He also needs to be able to srat on the floor for over 30mins without getting fatigued and pick up fouls

Yeah but this is not nealy a freakin magic wond effect everybody here expects if he drops 30 pounds.

He needs to condition and maybe drop like 10-15. Either way it wount make or break his season. His bulk is his maine weapon.

People need to stop comparing him to Traylor, Traylor doesnt have nearly as many post moves, and was never such a good rebounder.

Yeah Traylor's a bizarre player, like the Ron Dayne of basketball.

i went from 205 to 177 in 3-4 months of eating right and exercising. oh, and snorting a bunch of coke, but i digress...

sweets is a big boy BUT if you look at those clips from early in the season to later, he was so much more fluid lighter. he CAN lose the weight b/c he did it last summer. but it's those buffets on the road man...they keep callin' him...sweeeeeeeeeeeetney....sweeeeeeeeeeetney...come and eeeeeeeeaaaat me...

the best thing that can happen is for big snacks to eat up everything in sight leaving sweets with nothing.
