...at least he tries to make this team better every year. It's just that like Lenny from Of Mice & Men, his best of intentions sometimes have disastrous results. H2O's contract is one example of when he killed the rabbit.

From today's Links:
http://slamonline.com/links/08052005/

The bigger lesson here, the thing that all NBA fans can learn from, is just how tenuous these franchises can be. One crazy guy gets in charge of your team, and the next thing you know you're screwed. Mark Cuban, Jerry Buss, the Dolans, Glen Taylor -- these guys may not be perfect, but at least they're trying. They spend money, actually make an effort to improve each year.

Eventhough I sometimes want Puffy to buy the Knicks, I'm thankful that we got Len...errr...Dolan instead of someone like Steve Belkin.

of course! Belkin didn't inherit a company as big as cablevision and an arena right in midtown manhattan the center of the world!

I would rather have an owner that spends less money but spends it intelligently. Spending money stupidly means nothing to me.

were going in the right direction, whether the personell decisions actually bear fruit is another story, BUT I am going to root HARD for the young guys especially to play well. I feel they can, I hope they can. Personally it should play out as if we lose, we continue to go to the drafting pool and build up assets and lose older players who will not be here. I dont know if the Marbury regime will work out, but I have hopes for what can lie after that. Thats why my eyes are on the 5 young guys and Crawford. Thats what I see as the core of the future and it's VERY important that Sweetney+Frye play very well and consistent this year. i feel nate is going to be an impact spark plug guy, i feel real good about nate, Lee is a wait and see as is Trevor.
Moving Craw back to PG is a great move and if Craw concentrates on moving the ball, taking mid range shots and going to the basket, he has a chance to be an all star PG.

My biggest concern about Larry Brown is the degree to which he commits to developing the young talent as opposed to overplaying undertalented journymen, like Rose and JYD. That's why I'm glad that KT is gone.

Big bucks doesn't translate to talent. Tim Thomas, Penny Hardaway, Allan Houston, Mo Taylor...All are getting paid a lot but are overpaid. Spending wisely is the best. Dolan just wants to fill the seats. I'm not giving into the devil that is Jim Dolan.

You cant give Dolan a pass cause he spends money. We are in salary cap hell for he last 6 years mainly because of Allan Houston's contract. Guess who signed him to it even though no one else advocated it? He actually forced the GM to sign that and then he forced our best SG out of here to Minny.

Its not that I dont see things being worse under a worse guy, but Dolan deserves every bit of criticism he gets. I dont think Layden would have been as bad as he was if Dolan wasnt forcing his hand 50% of the times. For the Knicks to win another championship, the owner of the team has to be a little smarter than James or James has to wise up.

I tried bringing up this point a few weeks ago but was told that Isiah owns the team now.

I give that piece of **** no credit, you have to respect him because he spends the money, NY has the highest ticket prices in the biggest market in the country.....

How about hiring good people to run your organization, instead of letting people give your money away.....

Thumbs way down

No matter what you think of Steve Belkin, he is right about this one. The Restricted FA already told the Suns that he doesn't want to be there. I thought that Billy Knight was supposed to get guys to come to Atlanta, isn't that the whole purpose of freeing up cap. Phoenix would be getting more from Atlanta for JJ than they got from NY for Marbury. This isn't a sign and trade so Phoenix doesn't even have to take back salary.

You have to criticize him for his mistakes, but you also have to give him credit for stepping up and doing the right thing. Isaiah and Brown were the right moves. I'm very surprised that we have turned this team around in less than 2 years. Everyone thought it would take many years to get anything done with this team, yet here we are with the best Coach we could possible get and much more talent and youth than we had at the start.

In regards to the financial side of things, yes Dolan is basically spending our money but that is what we want him to do, if it means puttting a winning team on the floor. Uptil now that hasn't been the case and he gets the blame for that. I just hope that this year can be a new beginning for this team. A Riley like era would be nice.

I thought Ridding checketts and bringing in Mills was excellent. Checketts put in Laydog, and Dolan was wise to give him two years (of 4 year contract) before realizing he was out of place, and bringing in Isiah.

Dolan has his moments, but he has pretty much made on paper some good moves. Time will tell.

Nixluva,

We just came off a disatrous season. This team has not been "turned around". We may be "Headed in the right direction". Things may be "Looking up", but turned around? Premature!

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!
