Wow, James is hurt in a tourny, breaks his wrist. I knew it, I absolutely knew it. Guys like this, promoted as the best thing ever in the history of the sport never pan out. I don't know which hand it is, but if it's his shooting hand he could be in big trouble.

As in "BIG" in BigSm00th, he could be in big trouble.

Jordan broke his leg but that didn't stop him from jumping out the building. If anything his wrist will heal and be stronger.

We need to get off of this pipe dream that we will be in position next year to draft James. Firstly, with all the anti-NY bias in the sports world beyond New York, there is no way that anyone would stand for the Knicks to get that pick without conjuring up O. Stone conspiracy thories. Look at the way everyone got their collective panties in a ruffle over the mere concept that the Knicks would get this years #1 pick. The Rockets end up getting it, and nobody blinks, despite that fact that the Rockets were only about 2 games worse then the Knicks and had to make an equally huge Quantum leap. Besides, no way will the Knicks be the worse team in the league record wise. Uh oh, my famous last words.

Actually NYK has one of the largest following outside of New York. I know its hard to believe but its true. If you go to Florida most fans root for the Knicks. Atlanta if you remember 99 there were more Knicks fans there than Hawks fans.

As far as James is concerned yes we need to put aside that issue until the first 15 games of next season. If the Knicks suck and have no chance then I say tank the season in a big way at least they will be in the sweepstake, but make no mistake the Knicks are one the most loved team outside of NY and that is the reason that they won't get the number 1 they already have a solid fan base so they will use James for a team that needs help. NBA entertainment its fantastic, the fix is on baby.

Vmart, you are 100% correct. The Knicks like most big markets have a far reaching fan base across the country. I can attest, because here in the Bay Area of Cali, Oakland Arena is regulary turned into Yankee Stadium. I should have clarified my position. I was referring to the sports writers, and people who cover the sport. Thats where the anti-NY bias eminates from.

That's why for the first time in the lottery history, sports writers were present during the drawing. Because in the weeks leading up to the draft order, there was such a collective groundswell of whining over the mere prospect of the Knicks possibly getting the 1st pick. All of the conspiracy allegations forced David Stern to invite them in.. The lottery is clearly fixed (the worst team never gets the pick), but the minute a NY team might benefit (obviously it would be a league coup if Ming played in a huge Chinese market) and everyone totally freaks out.

I have a first hand perspective, because here in Cali, NY sports teams get straight up blasted all the time.

as a strange aside, Andrew and I were actually IN Akron, Ohio the weekend James went down the broken wrist. We should have made a side trip to his workout or whatever to get a preview of what he'll be like in a Knicks uniform (Stern please!).

I was out in San Jose last year and the Bay Area Sports shows always talked about the Yankees, Knicks and even the Mets. They had a few who would you rather have Arod, Jeter or Garciaparra. And they all want Jeter over those guys so you know that the New York tea have a big following there.
