I have to seriously wonder if we didnt overpay for James by about 20 MILLION.

Pachulia 4 yrs 17mm to Hawks

Hunter offers so far 2 yr 3mm from Phoenix possibly 4 years 12 mm from Mavericks is the best. Seattle may still get involved. C's go for rediculous sums of money for the most part, but this looks like the discount to the market.

I think you are wondering too much. Pachulia is a backup center, and as bad as James was Hunter was much worst and not doing anything. He had a horrible post season. James was a starter, who had a decent playoff run. This helped him out, like drafting college kids who do well based on the tourney run.

Eh I think we did overpay for a scrub, but these guys are even worse.

The book on Hunter has been out for a long time now, he has got adult ADD and he just can't do anything outside of blocking a shot here or there. He is not good at scoring or rebounding, of defense, his one and only asset is dunking. Even his athletic ability is only slightly above average as yes he can dunk, but its nothing spectacular like Camby was for example.

Pachula is one of my personal picks to sign, but he is unproven, moreso then James, who at least proved he can block shots and is 7 feet tall.

Zaza could work out to be a better player, but we needed a shotblocker badly. Hence the Big Fat James signing. Desperate times call for despereate measures I guess.

If Pachulia is getting 4+ mill per
And Steven Hunter is getting 3+ mill per

How did we overpay by 20 million when he got 6 mill per?
Maybe we overpaid by 10 million at the most assuming he should have gotten 5 mill for 4 years, but until we see how he plays, we really have no clue. Those 2 guys haven't done anything special their whole careers and get similar money, James has shown signs of being a good center and that is what we paid for. The jury aint out until the season starts and we see what he does. He could be a steal!!

Hunter is overrated by some folk. THe market has spoken as to what others in real power think of him.

Frye is far more skilled than Hunter. Hunter has serious limited offensive skill. Can't hit a free throw!

We have no need for him unless we clear out some bodies.

I am not in the big game james camp, but he does have apparent skill, and will make a good backup one day. At the price we pay for him we are not at risk of overpaying.

Stephen Hunter is a shot blocker and that is it. outside of that he is a stiff.

Didn't the Suns pick up Walter McCarty and start playing him in front of Hunter?

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

stop wondering. we overpaid.

i wish we could have gotten james for maybe $10 mil less on his contract, a year less, slightly lower pay. but lowballing and penny pinching is not the Knicks style. it won't kill us.

Maybe we can waive Big Gay Jerome James with the amnesty clause.

the Knicks had patrick Ewing and they trade him away because they didn't wanna pay him. But they are still paying Luc Longley right now, as we speak. They paid Luc, Travis, and any other bum center that put on the jersey after Ewing left.

Then they had Camby, who the team and management turned their back on saying he was brittle. So what did they do? They trade him for a raggly knee Antoino McDyess and gave crunch and munch free money for two years while Camby has re-emerged in the league.

A part of me is happy they have to pay bum centers a small fortune to play for the team. A part of me know how much they deserve it.

I think that is reserved for H20 - HydroKnees.

They could have used 1/ 10th of it to sign the Great Allanfan20. I would have given them 5 points 3 rebounds.
