today that they have signed free agent forward Earl Barron. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Barron, a 7'0", 268-pound forward, starred last month on the Heat's team in the Summer Pro League in Long Beach, CA, averaging team-highs in points (17.4 ppg), rebounds (7.4 rpg) and blocks (1.00 bpg) in the seven contests. He also topped the Heat in field goal percentage (.652), free throws made (36), free throws attempted (43), defensive rebounds (32) and total rebounds (52). His four
20-point outings and his two double-doubles tied Wayne Simien for the team lead. Barron finished second on the squad in field goals made (43), free throw percentage (.837), offensive rebounds (20) and minutes played (209).

He led the HEAT in rebounds and blocks on four occasions each, in points three times and in minutes and steals once each. Barron recorded consecutive double-doubles with a 27-point, 12-rebound outing against the Dallas Mavericks on July 11 and a 24-point, 12-rebound effort against the Los Angeles Lakers on July 13. The 27-point outing and the 12-rebound games both marked HEAT single-game highs. [READ]

how exactly did we miss out on getting him?

Did Isiah even have a chance of getting this guy?

And for every guy that turns in a performance like this, there are twently that don't

So, really, you should say- Knicks aren't lucky, don't get 3rd c cheaply

well he was a FA until today, we need a third C badly because James tends to miss 30 games a year, hes 7- 265 and was just as impressive as any rookie that came out this year in SL.. he would have cost 2mm for 2 years, hes 23-24 , hes mobile athletic and he can shoot it for his size. what else?:>)

We already have 16 players for 15 roster spots. The team should be focusing on developing the many young talented players we have. We don't need to have 90% of the players being young guys.

The Heat would have the inside track on him I would assume since he was on their sommuer league roster to begin with.

I do think offering him a spot would have been worth a shot, why not replace Bruno Sundov dead weight with this guy?

But I'm pretty sure the dude would have chosen the team that gave him a chance by inviting him to their roster.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

precisely.

But, Briggs, I will give you this- with our payroll being as large as it is, we should have more scouts than anyone else in the league to scour for just this kind of talent.
