After the ancient gods left the building a happening was being done out on the island to fill the void left by the blue blood idiots running the knicks.

It was the 1970s, it was funky, we had the Docter and some other very cool dudes doing a little dance, making a little love, and getting down that nite! PUll up, buy a 3 dollar ticket and see some of the coolest basketbal players on the earth.

It was a NY team, not no NEW JERSEY! They played exibitions with the knicks! It was ok to love both teams, and it was cool cuz we figured once the knicks were rebuilt, We'd have it both ways! It never happend and the nets got torn apart and shipped to Piscataway! We never went to no Piscataway by the way! And the only time I ever set foot in the "Brendan Byrne" arena was for a Van Halen Concert my girlfriend dragged me too! Its cool, we got married! Good investment that concert!

Read up on how the Garden brass took the money instead of the docter and how the team could have had both Tiny Archibald and Dr. J enter the NBA as the former champs! They would have made some noise!

The New York Nets were my favorite ABA team! The Knicks were my NBA team! And the Globetrotters were my all universe team cause I was a kid!

i well remember the '76 championship series. I was living in Denver, and when the Nets came back and beat the Nuggets, my friend from NY and I sang "Doctor & the Nets" to the tune of "Benny & the Jets" in our Nuggets-fan friend's ear for an entire night!

I've confessed this before on this site. If (When) the Nets move to Brooklyn, I'm going to have a hard time not rooting for them. I'll root for the Knicks too. Won't know who I'll root for when they play each other until it happens. Ban me from the site, pile on ... just the truth.

I know, Ratner's a pig with the politicians in his pocket (Marty Markowitz, what a joke), and the development plan is an abomination that will f**k up Brooklyn, but when they start playing pro hoops a mile away from where I live, I will be PSYCHED.

BTW, I remember the Nets championship too. I was just 13. My dad took the family to the final game. We weren't big fans or anything, just went on a lark ... must not have been harder to get tix to Nets playoff games then than now, LOL. When the Nets won, everyone stormed the floor and started tearing it apart. I got a little chunk of wood to take home as a souvenir ... what did I know. That was a badass team. Not just Dr. J and Mr. K ... The Whopper and Bill Melchione!

Super john, Brian "bt express Taylor! The doc, it was a great game. I was a punk 14 year old and we went crazy! Nets came back big that game and we all knew it was gonna happen! Nuggets were a very good team with David Thompson! Full house just rocked!

Yeah, Larry Brown was the coach! NEts had Louie carnasecca as coach for a while until Tought Kevin Loughery took over!

Game 7, it was a great nite! Then it was over! NEts sold the docter, traded Larry K, Tiny came over, but blew his knee out! Team was awful, no spirit! Dr. J in philly, knicks were starting Toby Knight, it just fell to pieces over nite!

The end of the innocence!
