Brown switched Allen Iverson from a point guard to a shooting guard and Iverson eventually became the league's MVP. But Iverson also played alongside a classic point guard in Eric Snow, and if Brown is intent on making Marbury a two guard, the Knicks could be in the market for a starting point guard.

A league source claims that the Knicks have expressed interest in Snow, who is with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Knicks may also be interested in Kevin Ollie, who played for both Brown and Isiah Thomas. Another possibility is Memphis free agent Earl Watson, whom the Grizzlies are willing to move in a sign-and-trade.

is there anything more ambiguous than "league source?"

This has to be Berman right?

Earl Watson would be perfect, and he's still available as a matter of fact. Still pretty young, plays good D.

Maybe I'm pipe-dreaming, but a resigned Watson and L. Wright deal might be nice...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I really don't see it at all. Kevin Ollie? Eric Snow? Nah, no way.

Not that I care either way, but do you say that b/c they're not Ron ARtest or KG?

Or just b/c you truly feel as if it's just completely unrealistic and unrational to see Ollie or Snow in a KNicks uniform?

worse, it's isola.

I wouldn't hate the idea of Earl Watson and Marbury together in the backcourt, but I can't see Jerry West being enamored with Crawford. What else could we offer them?

Jason Williams from Duke might be on the radar too...

but i'd say the only position we DO NOT need help at is the PG spot.

i wouldnt give up more than JYD really... why give up Crawford, who has 3 times the talent? we brought in LB to mold our players with talent who have not lived up to their game.

I completely agree. I'd really like to see Crawford get a chance to run the point next to Marbury.

If we're going to move Marbs to the 2, we need a big point guard so Marbs can defend the other team's point and our point can defend their 2, like Philly did w/ Snow and Iverson. Marbs is too little to cover some of the longer PG's. So, IMO, Earl Watson wouldn't work for us. Snow would, but I'm not sure what he's got left. Is he healthy?

If Larry Brown is such a great teacher...let him teach N.Robinson and Crawford how to play the point.

Earl Watson is bad. I watched tons of Memphis games last year because one of my friends is a big fan. If want Charlie Ward part II than by all means. He has no offensive skills. He got killed in the playoffs last year also. Even the TNT guys were wondering why after 2-3 great qtrs of play from JW why Fratello was putting in Watson. He plays hard and takes care of the ball. Thats it. He's great for $2mm a year and 15 minutes off the bench at most. Any team thinking this guy is a solution at PG better have a lot of other playmakers on the team, cause he aint one.

funny how rumors are that the Knicks being interested in PG's when they already have 3 PG's on the roster...anyway, we have nothing but the LLE to sign any free agents, so that pretty much puts a damper on any plan to bring in a starting calibre PG at this point even if we needed one.

hey, here's an idea...how about we let the guy who's averaged 20 & 8 over his entire NBA career at the position PLAY there this year instead of switching him to a position where he'll have to be mismatched against bigger players on a nightly basis? WOW! now there's a concept no one ever thought of, huh???

if we're starting crawford and marbury in the backcourt I rather maximize Marbury's sbility to score at will from SG as opposed to steph setting up Jamal who shoots 39% I still rather see Marbury and Q. Q's rebounding and ability to post up and hit the 3 and hopefully get a body on opposing 6-6+ SGs will be huge. I don't want to be overmatched at every position and watch guys brick jumper after jumper

playing some minutes at the 2 would actually be good b/c the offense would run more smoothly...

I like our guard situation right now because we have players who are capable of playing both guard positions. If they do feel a trade needs to be made though, how about Tim Thomas and a future pick or something for Eric Snow and Drew Gooden? I know it was basically suggested by Chad Ford but i think it makes a lot of sense. Gooden is young and athletic and can score and rebound, and would be our best PF. Snow could see good minutes as a backup point guard.

but where would that leave Nate. He was drafted to be the crowd favorite and energize the garden. There are Nate commercials on msg already. I don't think anyone on the knicks is desperately trying to figure out a way to obtain Snow and Ollie

Marbury isn't anywhere close to being the type of player Iverson is so I don't know why people would think he would have the same type of success. Marbury isn't a good spot up shooter and doesn't have a lot of confidence in his shot. He isn't good at coming around screens and shooting. His game is to penetrate and create his own shot which means he has to have the ball in his hands.

Marbury is the best PG on the team and Crawford and Q are better suited to SG than Marbury is, so why make yourself worse at 2 positions?
