Maybe Atlanta's waiting it out like Isiah so Pheonix will pull back on their demands...?
I guess. what does atlanta actually get from a S&T? they have cap space - why give up picks for JJ? unless they are getting JJ for an extra year at 70 mil

cause PHO can match and they would get nothing.

I know thats how it works but didnt JJ tell them that he doesnt want to play there? I mean I guess he would have no choice but they would have a disgruntled player on their team AND another max contract which they can't afford to have right now.

JJ's too good to give up just for draft picks. If I owned Phoenix, I'd simply match the offer and assume JJ would accept being in Phoenix like he did last year. Or I'd do a sign and trade where I got something better than 2 picks.

yeah - i really don't think phoenix would match. if they were willing to pay him max money then they wouldn't agree to the sign and trade - i know he asked out but the guy plays 3 pivotal positions for them. he keeps nash fresher for playoffs by backing him up, and with Qrich gone he will be a bigger part of the scoring, since Q is a better scorer than raja bell.

Phoenix could match and then try to trade him at the deadline or during the offseason. They can afford to keep him for this season (before Amare's max extension kicks in).
But at that point they're on the hook for his salary and its up to them to find a willing trade partner who will give them a good deal. Maybe they go back to the Hawks at that point. Both sides are trying to leverage their respective positions to get the best deal possible. If the Hawks think they can call Phoenix's bluff and force them to match or let JJ go for nothing, they're well within their rights to do that. That's not cold feet, that's smart negotiating.
