Mid season as our players show what they've got we trade

Jamal Crawford
Michael Sweetney
Jerome Williams
SA #1

for
Ron Artest
Jonathan Bender

Indiana-
Wary of Ron's next blow up and possible suspension from the league, they get young combo guard in Crawford, a young postup player/rebounder in Sweets, and defensive spark plug off the bench in JYD. And they get a pick from us.

NY-
Moves some young talent and solid PF vet for a dire need which is a defensive stopper in the backcourt. Ron Ron guards the oppositions best player between the 2 and 3 and changes the game for us. Jonathan Bender is a project player who Larry can turn into a player if he has any juice in him.

I know many think Indiana and NY will never deal, but I think this deal makes sense.

Dude, if I had my preference I'd say it differently, but I'll be patient:

THE PACERS HAVE VERBALLY MADE IT CLEAR THAT ARTEST IS GOING NOWHERE

See, when I say that "atleast I'm a realistic Knick fan" ^ this is what I mean...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Lemme guess- THIS is why so many posters want you banned? LOL

Killa, that's a decent deal, but I'd more or less see a deal like that happening if Indy starts off REALLY bad.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

but my point was not whether he was on the block or not, but whether this trade seemed fair or not. Hypothetically speaking if he was being shopped, is this something they would consider in you guys' opinion?

he shoots...AND CLANK!!!

bobs GRP% has now dipped BELOW 30% for the first time this season. looks like he needs to get sent to the NBADL for a couple of weeks.

as for this deal...artest is a LOOSE CANNON.

so it's a HUGE gamble.

talentwise, i'd give up ANYBODY on our team for artest.
the risk is that he'll go postal any given second.
craw + sweetney + a pick are potentially 3 CORE players for the next 5-8 years.

i would have to pass based on the risk involved.

I KNEW you would say that. I didn't say can someone else make a better deal, and pierce or Maggette for Artest isn't a better deal. Magette for Artest is totally retarded for Boston and I even doubt the clips do it, and Pierce for Artest doesn't even work its not even close.
But whatever, its so typical to get the "_______ could offer a better deal argument" and no one even asked that.

I seriously doubt SA's #1 is a core player.

...and to think that we could have drafted him and there would be no need to make a trade... Damn you, Ed Tapscott!

I'm sorry you feel ornery that you're more or less wrong on this particular topic.

You know what. Just for the record, you're like the 3 billionth Knick fan to ask that question - Artest for who? The answer has come out the same everytime. We have nothing that could land Artest even if he was available.......which he's not.

You guys get on me b/c I'm realistic, but rude. Well, as far as I'm concerned, this response was as polite as it's gonna get.

Shazaam dude........Shazaam.

I dont quite understand why being rational is so unpopular on this board. Indiana has stated it does not want to trade Artest. Artest has stated he does not want to play in NYC, they had their chance to draft him in 1999. He has stated he wants to play for Indiana and they want to keep him there. I am a HUGE Artest fan but the reality is there is no way this trade happens.

Plus with the bad blood between Larry bird and Isiah Thomas? I am in agreement with Bob.

I'm wrong? Why because some 19 yo knick fan that is so immature that he got kicked off of teenage message board (realgm) told me so?

That is your problem. This is not about right or wrong because you or no one else here are Indian's GM and actually know what he would accept for Ron Ron. Its about opinions, and you obviously think this is not a good deal. Fine. However, when you start to be able to seperate what goes on in your head, from what happens and is feasible in the real world, you'll have reached a new stage of development. Good luck.

BTW, I don't feel ornery. Do you think you disagreeing with me has that power? LOL!

I actually lost respect for you with this Artest thread.

As far as I'm concerned, smart Knick fans know what's realistic and what's not.

Far be it from me to tell you right from wrong. So instead, you can just wait 9 months to find out for yourself, and when Artest is still in a Pacers uniform, I'm sure you'll come around too.

Listen to TooDark. He knows whats going on.

Who cares what teams tell the media about Artest or any player? What a GM tells the media is strictly comedy as far as I'm concerned.

Artest has stated he does not want to play in NYC
I have NEVER heard him say this or seen any reports indicating this
