we won 30 games last year
we lost our best frontcourt player
we drafted channing frye--i cannot see a scenario where a 6-11 245 pd PF/C wont get 30+ minutes on this team, atleast i HOPE not

for us to get OUT of the lottery Sweetney and Frye need to average 14 points

im not high on jerome james--he will help and show flashes, but to expect a metamorphis from 4 pts 4 reb+ 4 fouls in 15-16 minutes is nuts. He showed flashes in one playoff series??? 2 double doubles in 162 games>

thats it we need to PUSH sweetney and Frye we need to see what they have now, no baby play 4 year college players are an oddity--if 20 YO chris Bosh puts up 17+8 14+7 from Frye is acceptable and needed.

IF we dont get this, we will win 30 games

thats it in a nutshell if we dont get
14+9 from sweetney in 28 or so
and 14+7 from Frye in 32 or so

expect a 12th palce finish and a 8-9 seed in the lottery

I say any combination of 20/10 from the center position (james and frye combined) and 15/12 from the PF position (all of them combined) would put us in the playoffs.
all kool aid all the time.

Frye is NOT going to be a primary 5. He is going to be a 4/5 and my hope long term is 4.

How many starting 5s would Frye struggle to guard? Maybe 3 or 4. Most 5s are really not true centers.

Good post Briggs. I think the Knicks should be fully expecting that Mike Sweetney would put up 14 and 9 now in his 3rd year in the NBA after playing 3 in college. If Mike can not put that together through say December - early January then its time to move on and get a PF in here that can do it. I expect Channing to have a few bumps in the road just like every rookie big man does but in the end I fully expect what you gave him statwise which is 14 and 7, that should be doable, especially when your the 8th pick in the NBA draft.

Defense is going to be the key here this year boys. If Larry Brown can "wave his magic wand" like many of you expect him to the Knicks can be an impact team and make a bit of noise in the playoffs, not a ton of noise but a bit. I for one am not expecting him to turn Crawford into an all-star but I wouldn't be surprised if Larry is able to put his signature on Craw, James, Stephon and Ariza. After all, he's getting paid a ton of money to figure it out so I hope he does. If Larry Brown can do that, he will officially have earned his contract.

Can we all just Stop the crying and WAIT until training camp (or better yet, the season) starts before we judge this team? People get too damn caught up in the speculation or totally forget that we are still 3 months from the season.

We'll see who's right and who will need to STFU in November when the Knicks take the floor.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Who is crying? This is what the offseason is for, for people to talk and speculate about the upcoming season. Isiah Thomas has done an EXCELLENT job this offseason but the Knicks still have some question marks and until they prove to not be question marks they will talked about.

How can you tell Isiah's done an excellent job without seeing the end results?
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I can say the same thing to you about how you saying that Jamal Crawford won't work under Larry Brown without seeing the end results.

I'm saying he's done an excellent based on my own personal opinion of the current offseason. Between the trades, signings and draft, I think Isiah has really done a excellent job. It's an opinion.

You and I agree about the great job Isiah's so far. I am just referring to those who seem not to be satisfied with ANYTHING that's been done since Isiah's been calling the shots.
Question mark? Of course they will be discussed. It's the bitchy nitpicking that I call crying. Those are actions of a hater (and trust me, there are more than a few around here), not a true fan that wants to see the Knicks win & prosper.

The same way you can tell that he's done a bad job- you CAN'T.
Wait till the season starts.

I hear ya Hardcore. We see it half-full while others see it half-empty. Hopefully Zeke can shut everyone up come next season.

I'm in wait-and-see mode. This is the first time in a while that I've been hopeful going into the new season. We have a real coach and some new players with promise. We do still have some of the old guys that it's hard to get excited about, but I'm satisfied with the job Isiah - with access to Dolan's wallet - has done.

Having said that, I think we really need to see some results this year. Whether we make the playoffs or not, I want to see that there's a plan going forward, that things are getting better, and we're not going to see this constant roster-churn forever more. I don't see how we can build a team if it's a whole new bunch of guys every few months. As a fan, I've had a hard time forging any kind of connection to this team over the past few seasons.

https:// It's not so hard.

expect a 12th palce finish and a 8-9 seed in the lottery

that may be the standard for you to call it a season. i don't think larry brown would tolerate that kind of performance.

and killa gives his guarantee

BRIGGS - man, what a gloom & doom guy

The guy loses credibility (and becomes ever closer to the suicide hotline) with every post.

The draft, plus the trade was worth a few wins. Larry Brown alone is worth 5-8 wins. We're now a .500 team with a few chips to trade.

Save this post so BRIGGS can read about his misguided projections in May. Also, watch as Bynum accumulates more DNP-CD's than BRIGGS prediction for Knick wins.

i agree with hardcore

let's just let the eason play out and cheer for the team. No disrespect to Briggs but most of you guys live and die on every word the guy types. Hey, he is only giving his opinion--his opinion, your opinion, my opinion will vary--so don't attack the guy. Geez

anyways, even tho i agree with hardcore...PLEASE do not confuse me with being anything like hardcore---he is the guy who will rant and rave about how isiah is the messiah and all that othercrap but totally vanish when the knicks start sucking.

hahaha

LMAO just to let you know, all I do is speak my opinion like everyone else. I guess you'd rather cry about Briggs than stick to the topic at hand. If you have an issue with my optimism, then grit ya teeth and deal with it. As for my break, I took my hiatus BEFORE the losing started- we were still #1 in the division, fella.

So don't flatter yourself thinking that anyone one here will confuse you or anybody else with me. They call me HARDCORE for a reason.
