Is there anything that can be done to alleviate the glut at PF before training camp or the season starts, or do we have to go into the season with all of them and see who steps up?

I really don't see anybody out there that helps in a two for 1 swap.

Also, have they announced the JJ signing yet...maybe zeke is trying to turn that into a S&T?

This is a SLOW knicks news/topic week.

Considering how much press we got last week, I'd expect the media to take a breather now. The rumors (like Finley, Snow to the Knicks stories) should continue thoughout the summer.

As for the glut @ the 4, if a decent opp doesn't occur soon, we may be able to get a sweet deal during the season. LB will have to see who proves to be the most valuable at the outset of the season.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

so, no buyouts, etc.?

Is Penny coming to camp?

Do we have too many guys on our roster or are the rooks headed to the NBDL?

sorry for the questions...not getting any answers from google.

"The Knicks have scheduled a news conference for today to announce the signing of free agent center Jerome James, who will earn $30 million over the next five years."

from that same link:

But since Houston's health is a concern and the Knicks can save $40 million by cutting him, the chances are strong that he will be released. The Knicks can only use the provision on one player and there are several candidates besides Houston. Maurice Taylor, Jerome Williams and Malik Rose all have long-term deals and with the Knicks overloaded at center, the club may elect to release one of them.

save $20 mill from MoT...while, it's not $40 million, H20 is still a knick.

Both contracts expire the same year...interesting...interesting.

They say a lack of a "shooting" guard was why weLB didn't win the gold last summer.

I agree, there something to be said for keeping Allan and cutting another expensive player with an outrageous contract. It really all depends on how healthy Allan is which nobody seems to know.

I don't see Isiah giving up on MO T and waving him. There was no reason to trade for him and if he waives him it would've been a lost deal. I don't know if Brown wants Houston so much and he is healthy enough for the Knicks to keep him, but they haven't ruled that out. In the end it will probably be Houston, though we really need to get rid of one or two PFs...

I wonder if Shandon would not have contributed to a Larry Brown team?

Perhaps somting could have been salvaged!

Still nothing on the signing of James? Did Brown convince Ishai not to sign him after all?

would rather open up a roster spot, and cut some more dead weight from the team, i.e. mo, penny, or houston.

cut bruno if you wanna open up a roster spot. if houston is somwhat healthy he is valuable, probably more valuable than anyone we could pick up. plus theres the NBDL. theres a bunch of players we could and should cut before allan houston.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I've seen good arguements to keep and cut Houston...
It comes down to this..
Will cutting him help the team (besides Dolan's coffers).. No
Will keeping him help the team (Even if he never plays again)... Yes

His expiring contract willl be HUGE.....
It would be very valuable next season at the trade deadline.
Houston's Expiring contract will be allow for us to take back 15.54 Million(minumum) to 25.9 Million (Max) back in Salary....
Dunno.... but that's the kind of Cap relief that would turn around a team's entire situation...
If we can get a real star while taking back some salary... Great...
If we can't get the right deal done... just let his 20 Mil come off our books...

Dunno... I think we should keep him.. as he is still an asset.. if jsut even for his contract...

It's key for Isiah Thomas that Frye plays well. If frye is any type of bust, imho, so is Isiah.

If we lose, than it's just natural progression. You are what you are

bruno doesn't have a roster spot. neither does jackie butler if we sign jerome james. we need to get someone out of our calculations, i'd rather have it be houston, penny or mo than a 19 year old center.

For this front line to be any good Channing will have to do more than play well. He'll have to be good enough to anchor an NBA front line.

Sweetney weighs as much as an anchor, but that is not enough.
