Id like top get Miles, but not at the HUGE cost of JC.

Look at the Portland roster--they have like 4 SFs and they are rebuilding. When you are rebuilding, you ALWAYS try to cut cap when it makes sense

a trade for

NVE
Miles
Utah and NJ 2006 lottery restricted picks
for Penny Hardaway

NY saves 19 MILLION in salaries THIS year as they opt out of NVE, we get first round picks and Miles, who I think is almost perfect for a Larry Brown team.

Portland gets rid of its headache/open up PT
They SAVE 30MILLION $ at the back end of the contract[cost of two picks]
They receive 7.5 mM in cap room next year--enough to sign Joel P IF he has a similar type year--he will be costly to retain

IMHO, Darius Miles isn't as good as TT. Forget him.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Miles does everything better than TT. JC probably is too much to give up for Miles but the move would really help balance out the roster. I like the thought of Marbury and Q starting with Nate and Ariza getting significant minutes off the bench in the backcourt.

hoopsworld says Jamal could be traded to the Lakers. It's just speculation.

If the Lakers could acquire Jamal Crawford from the New York Knicks, they'd likely jump at the opportunity. Never count the Knicks out of any trade . . . they seem to make counter-intuitive personnel decisions.

i love it...some of you were dead set against trading Crawford for Al Harrington, who would actually fit alot better into the style of play LB would like to incorporate, & yet would be willing to trade for Darius Miles, just about the most immature & selfish player in the NBA...the logic on this board boggles my mind.

I don't think one person has supported a Jamal for Miles trade so far

that sorta sounds like you favor that deal...maybe i read that wrong.

btw, there was someone on the Crawford for Harrington thread that supported a Miles for Craw swap...go see for yourself.

When I said JC was probably too much to give up for Miles, I meant that I didn't like the trade unless the Blazers threw more into the deal

I like getting the talent in Miles & picks for Penny. But how does the roster look like in your eyes? Miles starting at SF? Miles at SG?

Not that I want to trade for Miles, but that deal wouldn't be a bad one. We get picks and a young player. I wouldn't be looking to trade for Miles but if someone in the Knicks reallt wants him, that wouldn't be a bad deal to consider..

I wouldn't do that at all. Miles has less intangibles than Crawford. Atleast Jamal has his head screwed on straight - whether or not he fits on this team is a whole other issue.

Miles is a bad influence on younger players and a perfect example of what bad scouting can do for a lottery team...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Miles isn't a better post up player, or shooter than TT. And he doesn't hit as many big shots.

I'm not saying i don't like him and wouldn't get him, but i am saying lets not get crazy. He is as much of a ball of untapped potential as TT, only hes younger and brings different things to the game like Defense and shotblocking.

If you haven't already, read Renee Mitchell's column on Darius Miles, who sent more than 50 pairs of size 18 shoes to a 14-year old in Vancouver who couldn't afford them.

Classy move by Miles. The Mitchell column, because it's zoned, won't be in every Metro edition of The Oregonian so you'll have to get it here to be sure.

And while Miles good side (the great sense of humor and the generousity) is undoubtedly out there, it makes his volatile side (the film-room tirade with his former coach, the constant jawing at practice, the tantrums) all the more frustrating, I think. Because it's evident by some of his good deeds that he's a guy who is smart enough, and caring enough, to "get it."

Thats a big reason why I like him for this team, he not only can effeciently score and rebound--his defensive potential matches or EXCEEDS his offense. Hes a very long 6-9 215. Comparing him to TT is foolish. Even in the same number of minutes, Darius averaged 1 more point on 48% shooting--Darius is the kind of player we need guys who can play both sides of the ball, move up and down the court and take high % shots.

is "intimated" a word?

even if it is, this trade would be a huge downgrade. I am tired of isiah bringing guys in just because they happen to be from the area.

i think dmiles is a really good player. he looked outright dominant down the stretch last year - SCORING AT WILL. you do not give up a JC to get him but you PAIR him with JC. a lineup of marbury, craw, dmiles, frye, and <insert name here> would run teams OUT THE BUILDING in the east.

Yup, it's a word.

I don't want to give up on Craw yet.

like i said, id be very willing to take on back end contract in this case, if properly compensated with a couple of draft picks, if they are interested in an ending contract for miles. as far as JC, I want to hold JC

I think Briggs beat me to it, but TT is a hell of a lot better shooter than Miles and stronger in the post. Miles rebounds better probably. TT handles the ball better and while both have been disappointments, TT has a lot more talent. I didn't say heart.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
