forget people that were busts. this guy was picked in the lottery and just decided not to play. not b/c of injury. not b/c he came to camp and was a scrub but just didn't play b/c he didn't want to.

the saga hasnt ended... the Magic brass are flying out for some "face time" to try and make him feel more comfortable. He hasnt signed anything yet so its not a done deal he's not coming over

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Milos was a SECOND round pick. Jeez, lets blow it out of proportion!

Check Larue Martins stats for the first pick (i think 1972!)

Yeah, Freddie Weiss, the 13th pick.

My goodness, I think there were far worse picks and busts in many years with picks earlier than the 11th.

The magic got Shaq once upon a time in the luck of the draft! He changed Free agency forever cuz he bolted and the Magic got zilch!

Considering the context of who else was available during any given draft, the worst pick in modern history has to be Darko.

I say Len Bias. Overdosed during his draft celebration crack party the night after the draft. He was the second pick and all.

Weiss was 15 but hes the worst pick in our recent history, just because we passed up Artest (I was jumping up and yelling at the TV to no avail.)

Kenny Sky Walker was a pick at #5 in 86 for us. Never did much and recently went to jail.

i'd say that was the most significant one. He was so so good. YOu put him on Boston and they would have won several more championships. That would have put them over LA and Detroit for the next several seasons.

Btw it wasn't even crack. It was pure powder. He was a shy sweet-seeming kid in college. Supposedly this was the first time he ever tried coke at his draft celebration party. Snorted a ridiculous amount of high-grade coke and his heart went out of rhythm. I never saw a coach as upset in my life as Lefty Dreisell in his press conference after that.

Len Bias was projected as a potential Dr. J type at SF.

vasquez just signed a 4 year deal overseas according to draftexpress.com.

Yeah man, that event was a shock to everyone.

IMO the worst draft pick was Fred Weis. Vince Carter jumping over that 7-foot doofus didn't make things any better, either.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Man, am I glad the basketball gods didn't answer my prayers. I was the only Fran Vazquez fan in this site. What a horrible job by the Orlando GM. You would have thought that they would have asked him first if he wanted to play for them. Oh well!

WORST pick in the NBA lottery has to be Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. Just the fact that MJ became who he is settles the debate. It wasn't like MJ was a sleeper pick. I guess Portland should have checked if Sam drank his milk when he was young.

i disagree with bowie, kwame, etc b/c they're all busts but still actually played for the team.

bias would probably top the list b/c he was the #6 (i think) pick overall and just died b/c of some stupid sh t.

and fran is #2 b/c he was a lotto pick and just decided to not come over. only reason weiss isn't 2nd is b/c he was two picks lower.

that's right. #6 stuck out in my head b/c of that joke of "who's the only celtic under 6 feet?"
