Suns Deal Voskuhl To Bobcats, Set To Match Any JJ Offer Sheet
27th July, 2005 - 7:03 pm

ESPN - On Wednesday the Suns agreed to send center Jake Voskuhl to the Charlotte Bobcats for a conditional second round pick, a Suns team souce said told Chad Ford.

The move clears $1.875 million off the cap for Phoenix. Suns owner Robert Sarver has charged Suns managment with finding a way to match Johnson's offer without incurring the luxury tax next season.

According to the same Suns source, the team still intends to match any offer for Johnson. [READ]

They did what they had to do, because if they lost JJ, it would truly be a different world in Phoenix. Their win total would be in the 40's.

If they kept the pick they might not have re-signed JJ because of the guaranteed money that would have gone to the 21st pick. If they're working within a budget and had to make a choice, I think they made the right one if they match JJ's offer sheet.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Hell yeah, Nate woulda been picture perfect for them. I mean the starting PG takes a breather and as a result the already up-tempo offense actually moves FASTER?!?!?!? Opposing defenses woulda been like WTF?!?!?!?

Man, they backed themselves into a corner and now have to try any and everything to get out of it. The CBA wasn't quite what they were expecting it to be.

they'll save luxury $$$ by waiving our old friend howard. they should be able to stay just under the cap for this season atleast...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

this is the plight of a team that doesn't have the funds we do. to be a GM for a team like this...well, you need to be pretty AWESOME to keep a team together and win with a budget. that's why pop, petrie, and dumars are AWESOME. near the cap and the teams just keep winning.

problem with the suns is that 4 of the 5 starters are like, really damn good. so to keep them, they gotta pay them.

they really shouldn't match jj's deal. that's nuts giving that type of loot to a SG. and we all know about that.

I know this will be controversial but their first mistake was over paying for Steve Nash. They offered him 20 million more than Dallas did. that is a big part of why there isnt going to be space under that cap.

I love that. people have been (not you killee) jumping in the sus bandwagon all year.... lol, they got one year of happyness and they're just in front of a huge pit.

The only true good thing they have is amare. he's tremendous, but a lot of players have been and never won anything cause of bad teams.
overpaying is a thing only big market teams, like us can do.
the suns will pay a very hefty price for wanting to bad their one year miracle.

Plus, they didn't re-sign JJ earlier. It would have been sooo much cheaper now hes getting max money simply because of ATlanta, they've gotta really hate ATL now. They put together a nice squad, but in the end, Marion is gonna have to go. They are gonna trade him, I thought it would be him first, but they tried to keep him and traded Q. They will have to trade him now for a good player and an expiring contract. I don't want him though. They should be able to get something good for him because his stats are crazy, he'll probably come out east, but for who I don't know.

Oh cmon guys Voshkul hardly got of the bench for them last year. I don't know how they convinced somebody to take him and contract of their hands. They dude is gettin paid to seat on the bench and waive his towell. Just another 7 foot stiff who in the NBA only because he is 7 feet tall.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
