the possibility is still out there. what if we traded one of our PF's and a 2nd round pick for JJ instead of the MLE for 5 years? someone brought this up and it's true, something can still be worked out.

what if it ended up being:

mo taylor + #2 pick for jj at $8 mil/4 years (NOT FIVE).

would that be a more palatable deal?

this would allows us to throw the FULL MLE at someone like hunter.

it won't be. the sonics have no business wanting our trash...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Trash. Some playoff teams would love to have trash like JYD or even Rose.

They do need another PF, because they are about to lose Reggie Evans...They are going to need someone to step in and play immediately.

If they lose Reggie Evans, I could maybe, MAYBE, see them asking for JYD.....not Taylor. Taylor is, more or less, a piece of crap. The Sonics like their big men to be able to play hard-nosed defense. Taylor doesn't know how to SPELL defense.

Besides that, Jerome James for 8 Mill. a year is a tragedy. JYD is making MLE type money. So it would contractually make sense.

That said, I just don't see the Sonics doing it.

Bobs is right. Beside, JJ at $8mm per is insane, unless its for 2 years. I think JYD + #2 is a decent option, and Sea would consider that.

I would offer them Rose instead....because we can use JYD at the SF spot also. a lineup of Marb, Q, JYD, Fryes and James is pretty good.

wishful thinking.. i think a team would rather take the cap relief unless they are getting a pick or young talent.

that's nice that you would consider it, but Seattle wouldn't. Nobody wan'ts Rose's overpaid, 4 year, horrid contract. The only reason we have him is b/c we also happen to have 2 1st rounders b/c of him.

JYD and a future pick is fair. Fair doesnt always mean realistic though. Seattle could easily acquire Gooden for Evans if they wanted. That said, JyD would probably fit in nicely in Seattle.

8 million? WHAT??? And its more money per year AND over all, why in the world would that be more palatable? At 34 or 35 a 5 million dollar expiring contract for a 7 footer is still tradeable!!!!

An 8 million dollar contract will be much tougher.

Let's wait and see what Larry will want before making any other moves. He is a legend that knows how to win, so give him at least the respect to bring in one player that he wants.

Personally, I wouldn't give a **** if Larry likes JYD. Isiah is the GM. It is his responsibility and right to shape the roster how he sees fit. Getting rid of JYD would be a positive move in the right direction, b/c of 2 reasons:

Brown has said he doesn't care who is on the roster. He just wants to do the best job he can.

Secondly, getting rid of 1 of our PF's, though he's a good one more or less, is an opportunity you must take advantage of. It clears up the rotation, pure and simple. I like JYD, but not enough to cut my nose off to spite my face.

it'll probably be jyd, but i cut it down to 4 years (which is still awful) and would clear up a glut.

that would make it more palatable to me. his best value would be an expiring deal and it would come one year sooner for a couple of mil more.

jyd brings a hell of a lot more to the table than taylor and rose. you can't put a number on the energy he brings off the bench. Same with Ariza. Neither have polished games but they can change the feel of the game the minute they step on the floor. Rose is a 6-4 halfcourt PF, kurt thomas but 5inches shorter

Do you really believe this crap? I didn't see where LB said this but of course he cares who's on the roster . This is one of the most ridiculous things I've read. LB will have a definite say on roster moves. Imagine someone actually believing Lb saying" I don't care who I coach I just want to do the best I can " Ha Ha
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Personally, and not objectively, I could care less about who Larry feels should stay put. If the opportunity came to initiate a S&T with Seattle for James, instead of wasting the MLE on him, I do it no matter what...

that kind of attitude would make LB not want to be here very long...

Isiah must and will care for who Brown likes and wants to keep because its Larry who will coach the team and he will know better than even Isiah what he needs in order to win. Its not like Isiah can do whatever he wants and Brown has to just coach. The sucess of the Knicks depends on both men being on the same page...
