I love Pau but I'm not sure he's the low post presence we need inside offensively. He can be contained and forced to stay on the perimeter. We need KG then the East would look like this

1. Knicks
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
(insert team here)

I think the Knicks should KG and Lebron for expiring contracts. Then we'd be unstoppable. If Penny's expiring contract doesn't get the job done, throw in Jackie Butler. LOL. You guys are funny.

Pau would have been a Knicks if Larry wasn't our coach, but it is looking more and more like Larry will be the man, so forget about Pau. Larry's big men have to be able to play defense...

No, Larrys big man in Detroit played defense.

If there free LSD being given out here? Expiring contracts do not equal major star much less superstar. If that were the case every GM would be beating down our doors-we've got more high pricd expiring contracts than anybody. Sheesh

you get always throw in young players and top draft picks for guys like KG. but realistically bigman don't get traded for expiring contracts. Guards like Marbury and Baron Davis do. So you can pencil in yet another guard unless isiah just lets the expiring contracts expire.

How long have we been waiting for Ewing's replacement? the only way you get these top flight frontcourt players are 1) with a top lottery pick or 2) with cap room. We'll have none for a very long time. Gotta hope we do the best we can with the bigs we have and yet another guard that we aquire for TT/Penny

How do you come to 'If we get Pau'? Is this a new trade rumor or just a scenario you're thinking up? It's hard trying to figure what's real with you guys and what's not...

This was posted in the other thread, from realgm's offseason review:

New York: They got things off quickly by trading Kurt Thomas and what ended up being Dijon Thompson to the Suns for Quentin Richardson and what became Nate Robinson.

Robinson is already a folk hero, poised to be the slam dunk champion and Richardson is a healthy perimeter shooter with a nice back to the basket game for a guard.

Waiving Allan Houston will happen as soon as it is allowed.

Jerome James will turn out to be a steal.

Then there is the Larry Brown situation. There is little doubt that he will be the next coach and the player that will benefit the most is Stephon Marbury.

The most interesting aspect yet to come though are the expiring contracts of Tim Thomas and Penny Hardaway. That is over $28 million worth of cap relief for whoever wants to get rid of their high price talent.

Pau Gasol is the clearest option at this point, but Isiah might want to hold playing those chips until the season is well underway and teams that were believers stop believing.

makes sense to me. Hopefully we are basically giving up Penny and one of our PF's (anyone at this point, except Lee)

marbs, Q, TT, Pau, James
bench
nate, craw, Ariza, Sweets, Frye
all kool aid all the time.

3) trades.

Brand, Shaq, Rasheed Wallace, Brad Miller, Chris Webber, Lamar Odom, Carlos Boozer, and Jermaine O'Neal were all traded. And those ar ebig men off the top of my head.

Thats wrong in at least two ways.

1. Pau is not better than any knick.
2. If he was, how does that mean he's not coming?

Wasn't marbury better than any Knick when he got here?

small men and big men are on two differnt wave lengths. i would rather have baron davis for the deal GS got than Marbury for sure, im sure anyone would because they got him for nothing and hes just as good as steph.

as far as gasol, i wouldnt trade gasol to the knicks for anyone player because he is better than any knick and now that time restraints have been taken of pau--he will be averaging 22-24 points EASY with 10 reb 2.5 block. He was not utlized right under Hubie Brown and was hurt when fratello came on. If this guy gets 40 minutes, he is close to mid 20 scoring+10 rebounds @ 50%.

who cares we not getting him.
