I know that many on this board think that Hunter is a bust, but given the fact that we don't have a star center that we can trade for, can we still try to get this kid to play backup to James? We still have the LLE and we should consider giving it to a big man like Hunter or a SG/SF. I wonder if Isiah is waiting on Larry to make some more upgrade to our roster. I like the moves or the players that we have acquired so far, but we still need to make more moves. Hunter is better than Bruno.

I think they need to save that LLE for any possible signings for free agents that hav been cut from their respective teams for Luxury Tax relief. If we use the LLE now on Hunter we could miss out on a real Stud. It would be folly to rush...

a real studd will not get cut. Hunter can complement James at the Center position. He provides defense, which is something that Brown preaches. Imagine both Hunter and James together on the court with our guards pushing the ball?

I would agree with you that a real stud will not get cut...
But all the talk surrounding Finley possibly beeing cut... has to give some a ray of hope that some nice talent would be made available. There are so many teams in the NBA.. I would be suprised if someone who would help us more than Hunter is not cut.

Although I must say... having 3 Real Big guys (Jackie, James, Hunter)sharing the rotation at the 5 would be nice...

Rest assure, if a guy like Finley is cut, he will be paid much more to join another team. The LLE is not enough for a guy like Finley. We need to focus at upgrading the front court. Cheap investment is the way to go.

Players who are cut will still get paid their full salary from their old team... On Top of whatever it is they sign for. With Larry Brown on Board and our Roster upgrades over the summer... Perhaps someone who really wants to play in NYC could be persuaded to take the LLE.

Dunno... I'm all for filling a need with that LLE... But if I hear about the Nets (or any other rival) getting a a recently cut, solid contributer who could have helped us for the LLE... It would be a great dissapointing missed opportunity

Don't worry about what other team do, worry about what we need to improve on. To tell you the truth, given the fact that we have this many PFs on our roster, which by the way, 3 of them can effectively play SF if need be, we are very thin at the Center position still. James can be a 25 mpg type of center, but I want another capable body to comein and provide defense/reboundig and block shots...

I will bet you all this much, the very first thing that Larry will demand from Zeke is to go out and get us another Center. Larry loves length/athleticism and a guy that will rebound the ball. See Detroit's front court. Right about now, besides Frye who is an unproven talent, JJ is the only one who is known for being able to block shots. Ratliff, Deke, the Wallace brothers, and Dyess are all shot blockers that have played in Brown's system.....We need to get another shotblocker to take advantage of Brown's effectiveness as a coach.

We certainly need to always look to upgrade the talent on this team, but lets not get carried away. This is still a team of the future. YES we can win now to a certain degree, but we will be gettting younger not older over the next year or so and I think LB knows that this is not the Pistons situation.

IT had to go thru the draft cuz we didn't have much we could do trade wise and we aren't under the Cap, so Drafting promising young players is our main route. That being the case he can't change direction now and just get vets so we can try and win now. If that was possible he would still be trying to do that. Brown LOVES to teach and this young squad will provide lots of opportunities to do that. All these guys will start from day one in his system and down the line we'll be better for it.

that is why it would be wise to bring in another talented 7' like Hunter to get some of that good teaching. You never know, both Hunter and Frye if paired together as PF and Center can turn out to be even better than what Detroit has with the Wallace brothers...

Whoa, easy on the Kool-Aid there. Nah I am with you though, it is a possibility.

But the only big who it seems may get cut is Theo Ratliif. If he gets cut cool, but there isn't another good player I can see getting cut who can help us out. And believe me I looked!

Who do you guys see who may get cut?

T. R. will not be cut. settle for a much more affordable player like Hunter. How much is the LLE? Maybe Isiah is thinking about investing the LLE on Buttler.

Here is a list of FAs that are available. Out of all the names, only Mutombo and Hunter can help at the front court, but don't be surprise if Zeke pursue Gerald Wallace. I wouldn't go after a SF/SG mainly because Lee, Rose and JYD can provide what we need from the SF/SG position. We need another 7'. I want Hunter because he is only 23 and has plenty of room for improvements

Marko Jaric*, Damon Stoudamire, Earl Watson, Damon Jones, Jon Barry, Jeff McInnis, Gerald Wallace*, Ronald Murray*, Darius Songailia*, Robert Traylor, Lee Nailon, Tyronn Lue, Travis Best, Gary Payton, Nick Van Exel, Latrell Sprewell, Glenn Robinson, Reggie Evans*, Brevin Knight, Rodney Rogers, Juan Dixon, Alan Henderson, Milt Palacio, Dan Dickau, Chris Duhon*, Kerry Kittles, Devin Brown*, Othella Harrington, Matt Bonner, Toni Kukoc, Dikembe Mutombo, Kareem Rush, Dale Davis, Steven Hunter, Scott Padgett, Greg Buckner, DerMarr Johnson, Darvin Ham, Maurice

This is a typo right?
I think you meant to say Q, Ariza and TT.
With Lee because he's been playing and learning it in the SL.

But only rose or JYD if the sky is falling...I mean, did I miss something.

We all know that Q and TT will be in the starting rotation, but JYD/Rose and Lee can all spend some minutes backing whomever is not producing. As we all know, Larry is not shy at pulling players off the court if they are not playing acceptable basketball.
