OK, he's not a company man. But not too many are today. What's wrong w/ switching jobs every few years, especially if you do well everywhere you go? To me, he seems like a guy at the top of his profession who needs new challenges regularly to keep himself interested. That's not a bad thing. His comment about the Knicks being a "dream job" seemed innocent to me, though, have to admit, he shouldn't have allowed his talks w/ Cleveland to become public during the playoff run.

There's so much politics in major team sports that he needs to be painted as the villain sometimes by those who are left behind, so they can explain losing such a great asset. But, at least in Detroit, I'd point my finger at ownership. Remember, they couldn't get along Carlisle right before Brown even though Carlisle had brought the team more success than it had seen since the Bad Boy days.

Larry's wanderlust bothers me a little bit more when he was in the college game, where your recruits get screwed when the coach bolts, but in the pros, where there is no job security, I don't blame him at all.

Beyond all that, when you listen to him speak, he is intelligent, respectful of everyone, and seems like a nice guy. I give him the benefit of the doubt -- he just wants to find coaching situations where he is challenged and he can be successful by making his team and his guys successful.

Larry Brown's peers and critics are all jealous of him. That about sums it up.

I'm still waiting for his knicks press conference.

Yeah, not only that but people only talk about 'loyalty' when it comes to coaches and players. They got basted for not being 'loyal' to the organizations b/c they elect to move on (coaches) and skip town as a free agent player or whatever else in between. For instance, if a coach does well, it is his choice to stay with that organization or leave it got another opportunity. But let's say that same coach isn't accomplishing what the organization thinks he should. Or lets say a more attractive coach becomes availible. You think organizations are thinking 'loyalty'? How many people wanted Chaney GONE and didn't care what happened to him whe he was given the ax? His career was a flop here.....he was kicked out of town no questions asked. But what if his career wasn't a flop and he had the chance to skip out on the Knick organization and coach anywhere he wanted? F%^k loyalty when it comes to the NBA. No one is loyal whatsoever (except maybe for the Utah/Sloan marrage). But I don't blame any coach or any player for doing whatever the hell he pleases. Because whenever the shoe is on the other foot, organizations treat you like u have the plague. Want nothing to do with you.

The Rileys and Parcells and Browns of the world are no better than the players who hold out because they want to renegotiate a contract that they agreed to sign. Selfish and mercenary to the bone, they are loyal only to themselves. The difference I see is when a coach does it, they are a little more full of crap because they are the ones coaching a team sport where they are always preaching unselfishness and loyalty to the group rather than the individual. Jeff Van Gundy is a prime example. He left the Knicks during the season and thought only of himself. If a player left like that, he might not work again (unless he had the talent of a Ricky Williams in football). Coaches are full of doublespeak and motivational bs that they don't honor themselves. Coaches should practice what they preach.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

I think we pretty much proved that when we traded Ewing. We won't get over that until Shandon Anderson's contract is off our books.

good point Bernard. They fired Carlisle and hired Brown. Where was loyalty, team spirit etc then? Loyalty is rare these days.

Well, it's like my dad always tells me. "Trust and loyalty and business don't mix."

Detroit and Larry got everything they wanted.

Larry is not easy to work with, and while the larry love is high, enjoy it.

Who says larry won't outlast Isiah in the long run?

Supply and demand! IF the demand for larry was not there, there would be no where to go!

He orchestrated his divorce form Detroit and knew exactly what he wanted to do. Detroit's organization deserves no loyalty, they are well run, and successful, but no innonence lost there! They had flip waiting in the wings for months while they wanted to wiggle away from larry. ANd likewise, we made a half attempt at phil, but kept the postition open all along with a strong belief we could get larry.

This man is a gem of a coach. He is tough, but all the great ones were not liked by the players, and by the owners. If winning is the criteria, then he is the man!

Isish will join the bobcats staff in 2 years as its coach kicking biggerstaff up stairs if he truly has the coaching bug.
