Looks like NY vs. NJ is shaping up to be a good match, tough to call! Who do you think will be the better team this year?

Let's see the thing this way.

on paper they look far better than we are. Reality is that Kidd had slowed down on d, had a very bad knee, Carter disappear when it counts and Jefferson success is only due to kidd.
Don't talk abtou the fact that carter and RJ skills are badly overlapping.

Though reality is that nobody can foresee what our season will be.
We could win 30 or 50. I honneslty have no idea about how we'll fare.

One thing is sure though, our matchups gonna be very very fun to watch.

We reguritate our own Kool Aid here.

We THINK we are better than we really are. Its nice to be up, but we will need some time for it to come together. Maybe a few months , maybe a season.

The nets are doing some cool things and I pick them to finish 1st in the atlantic, and ifKrisic is the real deal, then they gonna mix it up real good with Miami and Detroit.

Kidd vs. Marbury = edge NJ
Vince vs. Craw = big edge NJ
RJ vs. Q or TT = edge NJ
Rahim vs. Sweetney or Frye = edge NJ
Krstic vs. James = edge NJ

hmm, i wonder which team is better? come on man, did you even have to ask which team is better? it should be obvious...& this isn't me hating, it's just the way it is.

TMS, you're absolutely right -- no brainer.

I might give JJ benefit of doubt and call him even w/ Kristic. We'll see. We also get the nod for our bench and our coach, assuming LB joins us. But that's not enough to even the scales. Nets were balling by the end of last year when they didn't have Jefferson back and Veal was getting major minutes. And they look to be a much better team now. This one's not even close. NJ has done a fabulous job retooling.

If Kidd's healthy, they could easily be better than they were in their two runs to the finals. Not that they'll make it again, as the East has gotten so much stronger along with them.

you are all wrong about my Knicks....All we need to do is play a little defense. we already can score as many points as they can, but defensively, our boys just were never able to defend anyone last season...

true dat BUT . . . the big unknown is whether we can get a running and pressing unit out there that will F them up. ARe Kidd, RJ and Carter going to be able to do their thing if they're running to keep up with Nate, Reezy, Lee, jYD? maybe not. ANd maybe these players' man-up D disrupts all their high-flying crap too.

I can tell you right now that our front line is way better than the Nets on paper. Our shot blockers: James and Fryes will neutralize whatever their front court will throw our way....our bench is stronger and Kidd can not out shoot Marburry. If we can take the ball away from Kidd which will be Marburry's job, we will be in good shape. Now, who will match Carter's numbers????? no one in our squad but JYD or Rose can punish or put a body on Carter. He showed a determination that he didn't play with when he was in Toronto. If he can comeback stronger than he was last season, then yes, they will probably dominate us. Carter is the ace...I am not affraid about Kidd nor Jefferson. We need to find someone to counter with Carter's production. Oh, I forgot that we have Q....Hell, we are a much better squad...Q can check Carter.

We have a far better bench, but role players can only do so much.

I'd say right now it's 60-40 in NJ's favor. If we pull a Stein-bummer and rake in another star caliber player (*cough* Marion), then it'd be more like 60-40 in OUR favor.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

B.S., I like our chances....We are going to beat a lot of teams that killed us last season. We just need Brown to take over. Think about it, Marburry did an excellent job last year, especially in the first half of games. He took his time to set other guys up, but 60% of the times, the guys that he passed the ball to failed to convert. TT early on had a horrible start until the last 20 games of the year. Crawff was well you all know the story there. we didn't have anyone upfront that could scare anyone....but still, we were competitive until the last 10 games of the first half of the season. Lenny made many crucial mistakes, especially at the end of the second halfs that have cost us many games, that Larry will not make.

I thought the question was who's the better team, not who has the best individual matchups in the starting five.

So its not possible to be a Knick fan and be objective?

Being real makes one a hater or a "net fan"?

Nets, Indy, Milwaukee, Caves and possibly Hawks all got better also!

Miami, and PHilly also mature an additional year.

Im not sure we got a whole better for the upcoming season, but our ceiling is much higher.

THe success of this team going deep rests on the shoulders of the vets and Sweets providing we don't starphuch ourselves.

Anyting the rooks can provide will be a big bonus!

THe nets first seven is so far ahead of ours its just not worth discussing.

Um, no, you need more than five good players to win games.

The one upper hand that we will have on all of those teams is Larry Brown. None of the teams that you have mentioned has a teacher like Larry at the helm. They may have good players, but it takes a coach to get a team to synchronize. If Larry is our headcoach next season, our chances will automatically improve
