Game 2: Houston Rockets (4-0) 93, New York Knicks (2-2) 76
Lonny Baxter Impressive: Another day, another incredible Lonny Baxter performance. 27 points, 8/15 shooting, 11/15 from the line, 7 rebounds and 1 block. Baxter was a load in the post, even out-muscling for an offensive rebound on a free throw and laying it in. He simply cannot be stopped.
Dion Glover finally shot the ball well today and nearly had a triple-double (about as close as you can in a summer league game. With 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists, Glover has really established himself as one of the more dominant players in this league, along with teammate Baxter. Glover rebounds extremely well for a player of his size (6'5").
Chuck Hayes had a monster game in his 20 minutes off the bench. The short forward found all the right spots to be on the floor to get a bucket and was very active and aggressive throughout the game. Hayes ended up with 10 points on 5/5 shooting as well as 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks.
For the Knicks, they were actually led in scoring by Bruno Sundov with 15. Though he is a bit slow and takes too many outside shots, Bruno can really play for a guy who is 7'2". He has good hands and doesn't make as many bad decisions as other bigs his size.
Nate Robinson added another 8 assists to his total and chipped in with 14 points. He continues to provide highlight film plays that aren't forced for show. One ultra-quick spin on a fast break left his defender in the dust and his ability to find post players while driving to the bucket is unmatched in this summer league.
Channing Frye was solid once more, though he wasn't hitting his jump shot very much. He still had 10 points, 6 boards, and 4 assists. Frye displayed great body control in the post on a multiple pump fake play where most players would have traveled.
Not-so-Impressive: Luther Head played a dismal 15 minutes, shooting just 1/4 from the field and dishing only 1 assist while turning the ball over 3 times. Head definitely has a nose for steals, but today his offense was simply non-existent.
The Knick's Steven Barber came off the bench to spell Nate Robinson at the point for 13 minutes. He managed to go 0/6 from the field and had just 1 assist. Barber really forced the issue and took many bad shots.
