If LB is available and does sign. How about Herb as Assistant Head Coach as do in football. It give Herb some status and keeps him in the mix, He has great relatonships with the players and they seem to respect him. It let's him see firsthand how LB operates and when Herb leaves-we have a coach.

How cold would it be to let Herb go completely? Especially by replacing him with such a coaching whore who has shown absolutely zero loyalty. I would find it completely unethical.

And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

Why cant't we just make him whatever Cheketts was when Grunfeld was around, there is like a billion positions at Cablevision. There is no reason we are gonna let him go complelty unless he wants to leave. I'm sure they will reasign him either back to assistant or somethign else.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I like the idea of giving Herb some status beyond assistant coach. He seems to be a good guy who just isn't ready to be head coach. would rather see him around the bench than in the office.

we defintely need to keep herb as an assiant, ilove the guy always have. Also if we keep him as assiant maybe he can learn alot from brown and eventually be the head coach. Also when brown miss games from being sick which i know he will, herb can coach the team.

I said the same thing in another thread. Herb still has an Asst. Coach contract so that can just kick in when we get Larry signed.
I can dig that...
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

How about just giving him the boot like the other million interim head coaches that have come and gone. OMG, where is this outcry coming from. What the hell, did I miss something. He was a nice guy because he didn't quit because he like getting a paycheck. Oh excuse me, I forgot all those other offers he let pass him by because he wanted to remain with the Knick staff. Kudos to you, Herb! Kudos, to you!
