under 0 circumstance do we offer ANY compensation to the Pistons no money, no picks, no considerations

IF Larry is available for employment, we hire him as a an excutive consultant for one year and 2mm$

IF Larry Brown is deemed fit to coach in 06-07

we offer him a 3 year 22MM$ contract

that would work out to 4 years 24 mm and 3 years as coach I wouldnt go farther as he would be 68

His agent has publicly said today that Larry is healthy to coach NEXT season. I'm taking that and running with it if I'm Isiah.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

he'll get $10/year - like phil

we should NOT give up anything, nor are we in a position to.

the buyout package probably just says that if he coaches somewhere, the pistons won't have to pay him jack.

it would be nice to get him here right away but the team MAY be more ready to challenge next summer so it may be fit right in with him taking over coaching duties.

I disagree...If Larry wants to coach now, there is no reason to wait until next year. Larry will be on board one way or another.

It's a payout, not a buyout... and yes, there is a difference.

I'd want him to coach the second he felt ready. I don't want to have to give compensation to Detroit, but I'd gladly give them as much money as it took (or as the league allowed) and one 2nd rd pick if I had to. (You can just buy a 2nd rd pick on draft night for $ .5mil to $1.5 mil depending on where the pick is).

Phiel has 9 Champpionships to Browns 1......

In any case....I want Brown here but I agree with Briggs

Phill had the most dominate player in the whole entire league and arguably the second best in the whole league in Jordan/Pippen and Shaq/Kobe. If you remember when Jordan was gone Pippen was deemed the best all around player in the league and was even being considered for MVP honors along with Olajuwan and a few other usual suspects. Larry Brown took a bunch of rejects and walkons along with some role players and made them champs. That's the difference.

plus larry is currently about the best reality TV you'll find among any major sports coaches.

That thing with AI sitting on his lap after winning the MVP and collecting on his bet.

THat busineess with, "Guys, come back to the huddle. I forgot to tell you that i love you."

These interview where he becomes more and more monotonic and morose to the point where he sounds like Steven WRight.

The 5'9" Jewish point guard from Brooklyn son af a traveling salesman thing, the nomadic voayages across America coaching team after team.

THe whole health drama.

THis guy is as hot now as Tom Cruise. Can you imagine the Garden with him coaching???

In case you haven't noticed they don't pay coaches on the scale of how many championships a coach has won.

Now, ask yourself do you want a real coach or not.

Having a lame duck coach is a terrible situation. You can't bring someone in to take over the coaching job next year. ( Well you could
but I think it's a bad idea.)

I don't know what it will take to get Brown. But he has a track record that suggests success. I'd certainly take a chance on him.

To put the money in prospective:

- Maurice Taylor two years at$18.85 mil

- Anfernee Hardaway 15.75 mil next year

- TT - 13.9 mil next year

- Houston - almost 40mil for the next 2 years.
