Perhaps to force the situation to a conclusion, the Nets yesterday increased their courtship of Memphis free agent power forward Stromile Swift. But after the Nets received assurances from Abdur-Rahim that he wanted to play in New Jersey, Swift signed with Houston. The Nets' third power-forward option, Dontyell Marshall, agreed to terms with Cleveland.

Woah!

I can see them playing a big lineup a lot of the time,

Snow
James
'Yell
Gooden
Z

Thats 5 oversized players right there!! - and with Larry Hughes, McInness if he wants to come back, and who can forget Desagana Diop, that teams a legit contender!
Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

Another paper champion. Or a video game champion--individual talent that doesn't translate into a championship in real life.

Right now if we can trade Tim Thomas for Walker and plug him in at PF i think we're very well capable of being one of the top 6 teams in the east. A starting line-up of James, Walker, Richardson, Crawford, and Marbury with Frye, Lee, Ariza, Robinson, and either Sweetney or Blount(if Sweets gets traded in the Boston deal too) is solid in all aspects.

Frye should not be a backup...I am sorry, Frye is and should be a starter from the jump.

Nice Pick up for them.....

Larry Hughes was already a great signing but Donyell too?....that just makes them formidable and finally they will be good enough to make the playoffs with Lebron.

I'm glad the east is coming up the same time the Knicks are in rebuilding stage that way the Knicks will have to catch-up in order just to be on the same court with these teams.

James, Walker, Richardson, Crawford, and Marbury

sweet dido, that lineup would be AWFUL.

3 of those players need the ball in their hands to be effective. it WOULD NOT work, not to mention EVERYONE is perimeter oriented except james who can't do anything but dunk.

cavs have some talent. it all comes down to the new coach and how they mesh with each other.

I would rather have James, Frye, Walker, Q, Steph.

Guys:

If Marshall to the Cavs is legit, then that more likely than not means Gooden is on the block. They probably wanna dump some more salary so that they go after Jaric and maybe even Reggie Evans.

I think Gooden would be a great addition to the Knicks. Guy plays strong, is a freak athletically, is 6-10, plays average, but still solid, defense, and rebounds well.

Sweetney, Fut. 2nd FOR Gooden ???

I've been saying it all along. We need to bring in another Big Man that can block some shots from the weakside and rebound. That's Gooden in a nutshell...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

marshall has been brought only cause he's a good 3pts shooter, which the cavs sorely needed. I thing gooden and him complement pretty well and I don't thing the cavs would trade the latter.

I didn't write that. In fact, I don't want Walker in a Knicks uniform at all. I want a lineup of James, FRye, TT, Q, Marb...

DM is 32, there is no way they give up their young PF. I hope his deal is less than 3 years because he will be 35 soon, oh no!

I think Gooden is a more athletic version of Frye but without the outside shot and basketball IQ.... although I haven't seen Gooden very much. Cavs need big bodies for the playoffs and Donyell complements a rotation of Z, Gooden, and the Brazillian dude.

I still would like to give Sweets at least another year. The guy is a true back to the basket player who can collect fouls.

I can't stand all this cav butt-kissing because of this signing. If the Knicks picked up Marshall all we would be hearing is: "He's 32 years old, I thought we were supposed to get younger and more athletic!? Isiah is a hypocrite! We don't need any forwards to jack up 3's! He has a history of getting injured!..." But all I hear is how he is somehow going to make Cleveland a contender...yeah, all they needed was "Donyell Marshall"--he's really awesome.

Yeah I know. Until we get competitive we're gonna generate a lot of grass is greener heat. i hope the rebuilding doesn't take TOO long.

well Cle already has an established young core as well as perhaps the best player in the league. Adding a 32 year old like DM or KT for that matter makes more sense when you already have James/Hughes/Gooden. They have something in a player worth building around. Who or what are we building around?

Its not butt kissing its fair.
