"The Vegas summer league announced its first team all stars, including surpises like Luke Jackson, Chris Kaman, Nate Robinson and Jason Maxiell. The rest of the pack? J.R. Smith, Travis Outlaw, Sebastian Telfair, Dwight Howard, Tony Allen, and Ike Diogu. There was also a second team that included Chris Paul, Ryan Gomes, Channing Frye and David Lee, among others. It feels like little league where everybody makes the all-star team ... "

http://www.dimemag.com/smack.asp - they also peace out Herb - which is awesome.

Peace Herb

The Larry Brown/Detroit Pistons era is reportedly over. A buyout of Brown’s contract, which has three years left at $18 million, is expected to be made this week. Ex-Minnesota coach Flip Saunders is the leading candidate to take over in Detroit, making the waiting game that he’s been playing (basically turning down the Milwaukee job in the hopes of taking Brown’s place) pay off. The nomadic Brown wants to coach and should be able to do so without any compensation to the Pistons (although that has yet to be officially announced). What’s the over/under on many times Isiah called Brown in the last 24 hours? Tough summer for Herb Williams ... Almost two weeks after Nate McMillan abruptly left Seattle to accept the Trailblazers’ head coaching job, the Sonics will hire Bob Weiss, an assistant coach with the team for the past 11 seasons, as their new head coach. We’re assuming that Ray has given his blessing ... After committing five fouls in only 28 minutes Friday, Andrew Bogut committed another seven in a summer league loss against the Raptors, and then yesterday got the boot after an alteration with Pacer John Edwards. We loved Bogut’s quote after the ejection: "It was a pretty quick hook. I needed a rest anyway." ... Word around the rumor mill is that Mark Cuban may be interested in buying the St. Louis Blues. Yes, the Blues are a hockey team. This just a few days after people were saying he was looking into buying the Pittsburgh Pirates ... Chris Webber and Charles Barkley went head to head on the golf course at the Tahoe Celebrity-American Championship in Nevada. C-Webb finished third to last while Sir Charles finished second to last ... Don’t be surprised if Antoine Walker gives Shareef Abdur-Rahim a call to thank him. For a while there it looked like Shareef was going to set the precedent and take the midlevel exception from the Nets. Not going to happen. The Nets are finalizing a sign-and-trade that will bring Shareef to Jersey for just above the going rate - a reported $38 million over the next six years ... Props to the Rockets. Houston did what Jersey couldn’t do and convinced Stromile Swift to take the midlevel exception. The Stro Show’s act in Houston is a great fit. Van Gundy’s crew was in dire need of athleticism ... Pacers’ summer league center David Harrison picked up his third and fourth technical fouls in only three games for arguing an official’s no-call and for hanging on the rim after a dunk. After the ref T’d him up for the fourth time, Harrison did the whole tear off his jersey thing, which is always one of our favorite moves ... The Vegas summer league announced its first team all stars, including surpises like Luke Jackson, Chris Kaman, Nate Robinson and Jason Maxiell. We found out yesterday that The Roots, Common, Redman and Lyrics Born will be featured on "The Tracks," the soundtrack for the NBA 2K6 Basketball video game, due October 4th. Impressive. ... We’re out like Bogut.

Why is Nate Robinson a suprise on the allstar team? He was arguably the best player in that league.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
