bad buisiness = bad teams. Our MLE goes to a 30 year old who has been VERY consistent in his NBA career. 5 points, 4 rebound in about 16 minutes.

Meanwhile 25 year old Swift goes for the MLE, and Rahim is about to. Donyell Marshall will probably as well. These are guys that will give their teams great prodduction for $5-$6mm a year.

JJ just isnt worth it. Its another contract we are now locked into for 3-4 years. We are a 30 win team. This isnt the final piece, and this isnt some great movable commodity that we can move at any time.

Look at the market being set, and look where the Knicks are in it

isiah said he wants to make the talent level equal the dollars.

well the talent level is up, BUT SO ARE THE DOLLARS.

signing james will end up being like signing spoon.

who was that genius who posted ooohah or whatever his name is. He wasnjiving that wed have to pay 8+mm a year for walker and give up players and picks, and now these teasm --who OBVIOUSLY NEVER wanted WALKER get their men for MLE's?

so now does oohah or anyone else want to give up players picks take back bad contracts+ overpay for walker--I mean the teams with money do NOT want him obviously.

Swift and Rahim didn't want to come to NY anyway. Jerome James even if he reverts to his usual lazy self is still an upgrade to the roster. Channing is the 5 for the future. JJ will help Channing get there in practice.

We got JJ, Q, Nate, Lee and Channing so far. Isiah still has options. Don't jump ship just yet.

none of you seem to get it.

JAMES IS A CENTER. Since when do PF's get paid more than Centers? Mark Blount, Raef Lafrentz, Eric Dampier, Adonal Foyle... The list goes on and on...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

yup, there is a difference between PF and C and that's the reason he got the $$$'s.

but at the end of the day, if he's still 16 mins a night, then isiah dropped the ball.

I like adding JJ, I really do. Size is good and I think JJ will give us something like Deke did a couple years ago. He will be very usefull in spurts and have some moments where he changes games. When all is said and done with all his games where he gives you 4 fouls in 6 minutes and the DNPs he will be right where he's been most of his career. To me 5 years and $30mm + is WAAAAY to much to pay. Its just nuts.

your right. Any EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE PLAYERS is killing their current clubs. If you asked each of those GMs if they could cut those players and have them come off the cap (like in football) every one would do it.

Its 100% correct that GOOD centers are the most valuable players in the league. Teams are willing to take risks every year that a guy will become one, and every year teams are killing themselves because they have bigmen with lousy deals. Add Calvin Booth, Bradley and James to the list.

James hasn't played a single game for us yet. Perception is not reality. The past does not always equal the future. So ease up just a bit there buddy.

James could turn out to be a steal, or a costly mistake...

You just can't let the Nets get Reef, no matter what. Its your freakin division rival! We should have thrown the MLE at him instead of the bum that James is.

22/13 are his career highs in 5 years. Its not even like he's shown the kind of flashes a Brown or Swift has shown.

I think most agree he will help us and help the roster. But cost DOES matter. We have watched for the last 4 years what happens when you dont have a flexible roster. We talk ourselves blue in the faces about players we have no pieces to trade for, and its because we always have a roster full of players making more than they are worth.

Take a look at Blount's deal since you mentioned him.. thats what JJ will be getting. Pretty big gamble for a 30 win team on a player that gives you 5/4 every year.

wow. i've never heard anyone talk about the Muslim Basketball Jones like THAT before. For a second there I thought you were talking about Michael friggin Jordan, but then I woke up and realized that, ya know, you wasn't...

Bro you are a moron.

What does him being muslim have to do with anything???

He is a 20 10 career guy who will make Nets 100 hundred times better then us, and instant title contenders.

Kidd, Carter, Jefferson, Reef, and Kristic is a freakin POWER HOUSE!

that's why people don't like the signing...it's not the fact that Isiah added size, but the fact that he drastically overpaid for a player who's never shown anything over a 5 year career with the exception of a 1 week span in the playoffs last year that would suggest he even remotely deserved the type of contract that he was signed to...people want to cite some of the more boneheaded signings in recent times like LaFrentz, Foyle & Dampier to argue that Jerome James' contract was a good deal..these people are subscribed to the same backwards thinking that has led this franchise into the deep hole we find ourselves in right now...& then they complain later on that we can't sign any good free agents because our roster is filled with overpaid mediocre talent...it boggles my mind.

First of all, we're not related "bro."

Second, get off Rahim "The Muslim Dream"'s jock.

Third, the Nets have no assemblance of a BENCH. Yes, they have a formidable starting 5, and Rahim will get his, but please, Rahim is nowhere near dominant. He doesn't scare me one bit. He plays zero defense, he's over the helm, and its the Nets. Are you a friggin Knick fan or a Nets ass-licker? We're talking about a team with Jason Kidd and Vince Carter, that still can't sell out playoff games...

I'd rather have James over Reef or Swift b/c atleast he provides big man size and big man defense. Size is at a premium in today's NBA. Get over it.

i think we also all agree that it was a desperation signing b/c he had to sign a big man (at least that was what he told everyone his mission was this summer).

we'll see how it'll all play out...

i just keep harping that it's not about this season, or next season, its' about the 3 years after that where we'll see what the james signing is really worth.

I am going to tell you guys something about Reef that I have seen first hand a few years ago, attending over 20 hawks games... Rahim can put up 20/10 and his effect on the game is more like 10/5, he is a talented player but I always wondered what was his true position. I remember when both he and big dog were in Atlanta when it came time for the hawks to have a big shot the fans would just cringe when reef got the ball, you could hear the moans in the audience.. this guy is not a big crunch time player, and when he plays well, it never really seems to matter. He was surrounded by talent in Atlanta with terry, Ratliff, Big dog, and they still stunk, reef was their so called go to guy and they stunk miserably, the fans were all to happy to get rid of that guy, and still to this day, don't regret the move one bit....

And let me add that he was a hometown guy, from atlanta, grew up and went to school here, and the fans wanted him gone!!
