I am sorry folks, but Zeke must orchestrate a trade to get us a backup Center and a couple of draft picks. Frye is not strong enough just yet to play the center position, and as we already know, James is foul prone and will definitely need an assurance player to back him up. We have a glut at the PF position and we must trade a few of them to get to where we really need to go. We don't need a superstar type of Center to make noise, so let's deal a couple of our PFs for another center and draft picks.....

but our frontcourt is full of backups. unless a star falls into our laps i would just as soon stand pat, not accumulate more players to platoon at the 5. we've played rose, sweetney, mo, and JYD at the 5 for stretches, them filling in for james, frye and butler won't kill us.

Ahm, so now Frye is not even good enough to play backup C?

Whats next, we are gonna move him to SF?
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I think Sweetney can play the 5. Obviously his height is not ideal but his bulk is not ideal @ the 4 either for some matchups. I think we are ok w. James and Sweet @ the 5 and be patient; were not a true contender next year anyway so better to wait than make a deal we regret.

Yes I agree with the majority of these posts - we're cool now. Let JJ, Frye and Jackie BLue pay the 5. Throw Sweets and the DOg out there occassionally. ANd don't forget Rose - he played a lot of effective minutes against Shaq. One of the freakish 6'7" guys who can play some 5 like Mase and remember Hanzlik on Kareem?

how about Jerome Williams to Milwa for Calvin Booth a 2006 2nd round pick and 850,000 G to offset the little cash imbalance. Gives us a 3rd C and relives some of the glut, + we get a pick back. They can use JYD, we are so over stocked

we already have a backup C signed to a 5 year deal...we need a starter.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I'd rather trade for Swift who could shift between PF and C.

BRIGGS do you really want to recreate the horror that was the Seattle center rotation when they had both Booth and James? Isnt one stiff who can just block shots and has hands of stone and fauls out in 5 minutes not enough?
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

no thanks.

We are overstocked but i want to see us throw a running and pressing lineup out there at times filled with guys like Reezy, Nate, Frye, Lee and JYD.

Edit: Give Craw some of that too.

this is a good deal.

and a 3rd thing gets accomplished, which may be the most important, opens up a spot for lee.

its not going to happen this year. we need to concentrate on working with James and Frye who I think IF both guys stay within their means, well be much better off than people think. Booth would be a fine 3rd C WAY better than Sundov--even cash trade with a pick back and relieve some of the glut, its a win win

Sorry to disagree but we DON'T need a center, not at least this year. The good thing about Jerome James is that he wont take a lot of minutes from Frye, so we are going to be able to see if he is good enough for us. IF Channing sucks or gets injured and we want to reach the play-offs, then we should add another center, but not now.
All this BS about Channing playing PF is ridiculous in my opinion. Wasn't him a center? Because in that case we should have NEVER drafted him.

i think booth or whomever the 3rd center's role would be is strict bench duty. it more or less gives us insurance IF james/frye gets hurt or in major foul trouble. it's more about getting lee some burn.

Then, why not stay with Butler?

sure, give butler 3rd center and booth 4th. that's fine with me. as long as lee gets burn, it's all good.

if butler gets 3rd, why give up JYD when he not only can be a PF, but an SF and get boards from the 5?

I think we stay pat and hope Rose/MoT/Sweets/JYD play above their heads coming off the bench.

One thing for sure, one reason rose was sent packing from san antonio was his unhappiness with playing time...Not sure he'd be ecstatic about being one of 6 PF's...

So, he's most likely gone or starting.

I'd much rather have a starting lineup of marbs, Q, TT, Rose, James to start the season and eventually easing into a marbs, Q, TT/Ariza, Frye, James by mid season.

I've said it once and, unfortunately, I'll say it again...I just don't see a place for sweetney on this team.
all kool aid all the time.

Earl Barron from Memphis has really stood out this summer. He is 7 feet 270--knowing that big men usually develop late, we could give him a minimum offer for 1 yr with two option years.
