Sweetney has the potential of being a 18 and 10 guy. He is great around the basket in the post. He can play defense and offense in the paint and hold his own even though he is 6'8. He is quick around the basket for a person his size and an excellent offensive rebounder.

There has to be a reason why he doesnt get enough playing time. There has to be a reason why he cannot lose weight 2 years after he gets drafted. The saturation at the PF position in NY is starting to take its toll. The Knicks need to decide on a starting PF. If Sweetney does not perform this year, he has to go. He has to earn his stay and he has to go.

Absolutely right, Silver. Although I still think we're gonna make another trade that'll clear the glut @ the 4 a bit (which may or may not include Sweets), if Sweets can shine enough to somehow stand out from the crowd, then he will earn his spot. He has to work on the fouls, too.

Maybe he'll be a student in Aguirre's "How to avoid silly fouls" class along with JJ and Frye. If those three can limit foul woes and significantly contribute when they're on the floor, it would help solidify our strength up front.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I dont understand why teams would want Sweetney? He hasnt had any good seasons, he hasnt lost weight and he hasnt learned to stop fouling.

Sweetney has the potential of being a 14 & 8 guy if he ever gets into shape & stays out of foul trouble...his defensive instincts are weak & he misses alot of assignments when he's supposed to rotate to the open man...he is quick around the basket & a very good rebounder, i agree w/u on that, but imo, the reason he wasn't getting playing time last year is simply because he wasn't consistent enough to warrant getting those minutes...he needs to really step it up this year.

This may deffinitely be his last chance in NY to prove his worth. I really think that Sweetney can be a great PF starter. His weaknesses are something that can be worked our (fouling, wright) but one has to wonder why it hasn't been solved. I don't believe he will be traded because he is the last player of Layden's team, he will be traded for the best deal avaliable unless he proves his potential this season. I hope he does because I believe he would be a great option down low...

Maybe he will be used in a trade now. I remember there was suggested some time ago that the Bulls would trade Curry for Sweetney. I don't know how true was that or how relevant it is now, but see it this way: both players have some risks, so the deal wouldn't be that unfair. Maybe not a straight up deal, but something close to that. Curry and James would be a good C rotation. Then you start Frye at PF..

Sweetney won't get anymore minutes this year than he did last year since he's going to backup Frye and he's still overweight. He might get 25mins as opposed to 30mins. We drafted a PF in Frye. Hopefully he's less flawed than the other 11 PFs on this team

If Sweetney was a solid low post defender like Kurt, then he would be staying put. But he's nothing special defensively, and he's the very last piece of Layden's era, so I think he'll be dealt sooner rather than later...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

i think sweetney has already earned his stay. at the WORST case scenario, sweetney is a legit scoring and rebounding option off the bench. as a starter, we still don't know b/c he never really been given the ball for an extended amount of time.

drafting a 10/6/1 sixth man is not a bad thing either.

Thank you. At least you're being humorous in your ongong thematic reporting.
