Dalembert To Re-Sign For $75 Million Dollars?
14th July, 2005 - 6:11 pm

RealGM - A rumor floating around the internet supposedly of NY Post origins state that the buzz in Summer League: Las Vegas among GMs was that one of the top free-agent centers, Samuel Dalembert, verbally agreed on a $70M to $75M deal to stick with Philly.

According to the new CBA, if this is true, Dalembert (who's been a backup for a big part of his career), but is still one of those "potential" players, could be averaging about $12 Million in Yearly Salary at 10.5% Increases.

How do you calculate what the Max would be for any given player? I forgot how it goes, but I know you have to take into account the previous year's salary, and how many years they've been in the league, or something to that extent.

Anyone?

And ya, that doesn't surprise me at all that Philly would lock him up longterm for the big bucks...

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

max is a set $$ figure i think. it starts at something like $10 mil now (under the new cba) with 10.5% raises every year.

How do you figure that? Allen and Redd are getting far more than that. I think the max is different for each player. Can Dalembert even be signed to the same kind of contract as Redd???

That's what I thought. Max is different for each player more often than not...

This helps to put the Jerome James signing in perspective.

I hope so!! Dalembert who I badly wanted, and I mean badly.....I wouldn't have wanted him at those numbers. They are truly ridiculous. 12 million for a role player who might emerge? Thats crazy. For 6 years? I mean I like him, but come on, that is just ridiculous. But thats what happens when you are big and are a free agent.

Agree 100%. I can't believe he's getting a max deal, it makes Jeromes deal look small which is nuts to begin with!

I'm telling you, we made out cheap with James. and he's a center...this team may just work out if 2 of our PFs step up.
all kool aid all the time.

I agree as long as he doesnt play lazy but whose to say he's going to change anything he's done his whole career? I want Jerome to play well becuase obviously he'd be a huge addition but I just have to see it first. All I've seen from him is play well in playoffs during a contract year twice during his career and the rest of the time take seasons off. I hope your right though Hoss

he might've finally figured out how to stay out of foul trouble by not going after blocks all the time. lets at least hope so

I love Dalembert's athleticism and shot blocking, but he is undersized at center. Can't match up against Shaq, Duncan or even Big Z. I think his potential has been a bit overhyped and Philly will regret this move.

no doubt. all james has to do is hold his own and block a couple of shots...the rest can be handled by Q, Marbs and company.
all kool aid all the time.

dalembert is the truth. i've never seen a defender as quick to the block shot as he is and one that just runs like a gazelle up the court. last season was a waste under o'brien. when given the time, he puts up double double with 3 blocks shot AT LEAST.

shaq had the ball on the block, went up for a shot, daly jumped up and blocked it. came back to shaq, he went back up again, and daly jumped right back up and blocked it again.

that's no joke and i'm not sure how many people in the league can do that.

he just needs minutes. his offensive game is pretty much dunks right now, but if he's going to give you 10 boards and 3-4 blocks a night, this is a PERFECT building piece since he is an impact player on the defensive end.

that's right, i import kool-aid from haiti as well...

I agree totally, but I would not have given him a max contract of 12 mil per. NO WAY!!
dalembert agrees to max (?)
