" Two weeks into the free agent negotiation period and the field (especially at the shooting guard position) has narrowed greatly.

As of Wednesday, 13 free agents had agreed to terms with teams.

Ray Allen, Sonics (5 years, $80 million)
Michael Redd, Bucks (6 years, $85-90 million)
Larry Hughes, Cavs (5 years, $65-70 million)
Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Cavs (5 years, $55-60 million)
Bobby Simmons, Bucks (5 years, $47 million)
Udonis Haslem, Heat (5 years, $32-34 million)
Dan Gadzuric, Bucks (6 years, 36 million)
Raja Bell, Suns (5 years, $20-25 million)
Brian Scalabrine, Celtics (5 years, 15 million)
Fabricio Oberto, Spurs (3 years, salary undisclosed)
Robert Horry, Spurs (terms undisclosed)
Luke Walton, Lakers (terms undisclosed
Chris Andersen, Hornets (terms undisclosed)
Bostjan Nachbar, Hornets (terms undisclosed)

Several others, including Joe Johnson (Hawks) and Cuttino Mobley (Clippers) appear to be close. "

If they land him......wow. Would be an altogether devistating offseason for Pheonix.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

If they get him, I might be scared of the Hawks.

that's what I was thinking too, but why would Chad Ford report that JJ and the Hawks are close to a contract and then overlook the glaring probability that the Suns will match????

I don't think the Suns will match given what they are paying Marion and the fact that they will soon have to max out Amare.
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

You answered your own question with two little words: Chad and Ford.
(Funny, both names are four letters long. There seems to be ALOT of four letter words that he can suitably be called.)

if that's true then the Hawks will have one of the biggest turnarounds in NBA history, all orchestrated in a single offseason...

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Curry follows suit and the Bulls agree to a S&T for Harrington...

I don't get it. What is causing the huge turnaround for the Hawks?

Why would the Hawks trade Al Harrington, and who would they be getting back for him?

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

If the Hawks offer Curry a pretty big contract, the Bulls might not match and instead a S&T could be made, so that Chicago gets something of worth in return (Harrington).

Atlanta would have a young core of JJ, Curry, Josh Smith, Childress, Marvin, etc. And they would only continue to improve that lineup with each draft...

that would still leave them without a PF and PG.

JJ is a PG/SG, they have Ty Lue, who they may choose to keep. Marvin can spot at PF, and in a year or two, they could easily assemble all the pieces they need to start making a serious playoff run.

That said, I hope the Knicks are right there to bring those playoff hopes crumbling down.....just like we did in 99.

The hawks should have traded down and got Chris Paul to balance out their roster. If they get JJ they still are a year or two from being dangerous. Those young boys don't know how to play yet and Delk and Lue are not gonna make it hapen for them. Their future is very bright though.

The hawks and JJ can agree to a deal, but the suns can match, so ford may be right, but JJ is using the hawks man, he does not want to play here, I live in Atlanta, a great place to live, believe me, one of the best, but Arizona is not shabby at all and the suns are good. The suns didn't trade Q and save 8 mil long term for nothing, they are trying to sign JJ, they can do that , max out amare and trade marion...

I think Marion is more critical to that team than JJ. I know Marion struggled in the WCF, but he provides so much for that team. He can guard every position, and doesn't need the ball to be effective.

JJ will be maxed out anyway, so the difference in salary b/w the two will be pretty small. I wouldn't be shocked if the Suns didn't match.
