Laimbeer thought they were rebuilding not contending...he's not ready for that pressure...
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

Berman reported that Laimbeer was out like last week. Berman said that Laimbeer had "destroyed his chances."

Yeah, if Isiah wanted him the deal would have been done already.

that's why Herb was interviewing Westy, he knew Laimbeer was already out, and knows at worst he'll be on Larry's staff.

I'm excited about Westphal, he's proven to be a successful NBA coach--could you imagine if the Knicks could get 60 wins in a year?

No....I can't. I can dream about it though.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Much would have preferred Laimbeer to Herb, Herb proved nothing with enough time to do something. Look at what Lawrence Frank did with the Nets in half a season.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Oh well if Bill is gone then Herb abd Westphal it is....to hell with Larry Brown. Larry is gonna want his people around and Isiah still wants his people around so keep Herb and bring in Westphal. Westphal always had winning teams and he always had great swingmen too so maybe he would be good to have around Ariza, and Q.

Westphal got the offense, Herb got the defense.......maybe it could work.

The Nets bailed on Scott. The first game after Scott was fired they has a big scoring game.

Herb did put a out a more structured offense as soon as he came in that worked but the Knicks just happen to suck in general that's why he lost.

The Knicks are better right now so hopefully things will work out. I'm just trying to be positive. I really wanted Laimbeer.....I definately don't want Brown so Herb needs to just be given a 2 year deal and be done with it. Maybe the NY media will go on vacation for once. I'm sick of hearing about our coaching situation.

Isiah Thomas get's an F- with his coaching decisions. He should have hired Mike Fratello when he had the chance! Phil Jackson turns us down and now Bill Laimbeer? You know Nate McMillan and Flip Saunders probably told Zeke they aren't interested either. I cannot believe Herb freaking Williams is going to be our coach. Herb freaking Williams. Do you guys understand how bad that is? Herb is a scrub of a coach! My God, you do realize that he wouldn't even land an Assistant coaching job with ANY other team? I hope Zeke wakes up and realizes what a terrible mistake he's making. We have a young team that needs an experienced coach. They need a voice of respect. Who the hell respects Herb? Hell, does Herb respect himself? You remember when we traded Herb to Toronto? He begged Toronto management to waive him so he could resign with us. Where is his self respect? Would you go back to your company if they fired you? You're telling me Trevor Ariza, Nate Robinson, David Lee, Channing Frye and the rest of our young players are going to learn from Herb? Jesus, this is ****ed up.

Stan Van Gundy, P.J. Carlesimo and hell, even Doug Collins is available. You're telling me they all aren't better than Herb? I'm sick of media making it seem like Zeke cannot just go ahead and fire him. Why not? Why do we owe Herb a 2nd chance? What exactly did he do to deserve this 2nd chance? Did Chris Jent get a 2nd chance with Orlando? Did Frank Hamblen get a 2nd chance with Los Angeles? Why should Herb get a 2nd chance? Can anyone please tell me?

Herb should get a 2nd chance because he never got a 1st chance! The team sucked last year and it was hardly the fault of the coach. He was never given the opportunity to implement his ideas in training camp. Gary Payton went back to Boston last year after being let go BTW.

It's not like Herb Williams only got 10 or 15 games to prove himself. He got 43 games. That's more then half a season. More then enough time to show something ... anything. Tell me one single thing we improved under Herb.

And screw Gary Payton.
