Portland would never agree to that. Rose has 4 years left. We're more likely than not stuck with him, which is why I'd advocate waiving him, atleast to unclog the PF position...

Yeah, the JYD for Patterson you suggested before was really a wash, but Rose for Patterson provides an opportunity to cut a year off contract wise and bring in an extra defender for the perimeter (JYD could also defend SF). I'd definitely look into something like this, though I suspect Zeke has something planned for the PF spot.

Rose is better character guy than patterson, at least that's the accepted perception.

another thing about rose, that i like, is his work ethic and experience.

Right now we only have 4 guards total between 2 guard positions (unless you count ariza at guard) vs. 5 PF's.

depth also means that you can trade one of them and still have a capable person to replace them with.

portland would do this - especially since they want to dump him and replace him with "character" guys.
