from the Daily News:

FREE-FOR-ALL: The two free agents Thomas feels he has the best chance of landing are Jerome James and Stromile Swift. The cash-strapped Grizzlies are not expected to re-sign Swift and may be open to a sign-and-trade deal. The Knicks could offer James most if not all of their $5.1 million mid-level exception. Swift has already visited the Knicks.

Washington's Kwame Brown is another possibility, but there are reports that Brown could be shipped to the Lakers in a sign-and-trade for Caron Butler. The Celtics are unlikely to trade Antoine Walker to New York, and the Knicks have cooled considerably on Phoenix free agent center Steven Hunter.

....

I think it's a mistake to dismiss Hunter. There's no way we're getting Stromile without giving up Sweetney. And Jerome James would be a MAJOR mistake, no Dampier level, but half that. He's useless 9 games out of 10.

I'd rather have Sweetney and Hunter than Stromile. I guess it's apples and oranges, because neither Hunter nor Stro have much BBall IQ.

Sigh. I think we might completely strike out at this rate. I wonder if Zeke is looking into Donyell Marshall? Yeah, he's older, but he's available for the MLE, he can rebound, block shots, and shoot. I don't like him as much as Stro or Hunter, but I damn sure like hmi better than Walker or Jerome fricking James...

If we strike out on these available big men, Zeke should pursue the rookie FAs playing right now in the summer league. I would contact them in this order.

1. Lucas Tischer - Playing with PHX right now.
2. Moussa Badiane - Playing for DAL right now.
3. Deji Akindele - Playing for DAL right now.

Gotta agree here. NY papers (Post, D.N.)...are usually a crock.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

things to watchout for when it comes to news about Zeke,,,,If it is from another city news paper, it is true. However, if it is from new york media or Chad ford, it is fabricated...

so would i...he has the most upside...Isiah failed to take a flyer on a kid like Gerald Green in the draft & went the more sure route w/Frye...we need to take a chance w/Kwame & see if he can become the presence in the post that we need...

btw, anyone catch Green's dunk the other day in summer league? i said before he'd be the best player to come out of this draft in the long run...this video clip is just sick:

I don't know why thhey would say things have cooled off regarding Hunter. Isaiah already knows that he can get him if he wants. He's just trying to make sure of what his better options are. If none of them pan out, then he probably already has a wink, wink agreement with Hunters agent to sign him. No way he goes into the season without another big man. This is just stupid speculation.

LOL some ppl believe everything the media dictates to them.

Anyone hear the word SMOKESCREEN before?

Acting as if he's not interested is the perfect way to stay out of the limelight so we can make the real moves!
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I'm ok with cooling on Hunter. He's a good shotblocker, but not a very skilled player and really didn't show the improvement people claimed he did this past year. I think we need a little bit more than a 14 mpg backup, and it will be prudent move to ease in Frye's minutes at the start of the year...

And I'm pretty sure no one here has a problem with cooling on Walker.

all we need is a shotblocker-type.

Who said he didn't? He wasn't, however, picked at 9 or 10. Rightly or wrongly, he slipped to 18.

Well that settles it, he is the best player to come out of the draft, he dunked on Bruno Sundov's cousin!

That dunk was pretty sick though.

Granger is sitting out the summer league to rest an "old (knee) injury". Makes me feel a little bit better that we didn't draft damaged goods.
